WASHINGTON -- Republicans are crafting the party's platform with a populist bent this year.

Anyone with Internet access -- party member or not -- can log onto the GOP's site and offer thoughts for the Republican platform, which will be approved at the party's convention later this month in New York.

Visitors to the "Platform Portal", which went live on Tuesday, provide some personal information and select the issue most important to them. Among the 20 choices: jobs, transportation, war on terror and 'other'. Space is included for additional comments.

There will be no checking to see if respondents are registered Republicans, said Ginny Wolfe, a spokeswoman for the platform committee.

"Good ideas shouldn't always be considered partisan and this is an opportunity for anybody to contribute ideas, testimony, thoughts or whatever," Wolfe said.

I'm shocked. Immigration isn't listed as a topic on the list. I guess the National Committee thinks Wall Street is more important than Main Street.

You should ping Stone cold GOP. He says he's voting for Tom Tancredo to "teach George Bush a lesson".

Ahem....they ALREADY got the PUBLIC'S input.....we who were delegates to the County and State (and National) conventions said our piece, gave our opinions, made our recommendations through the LEGAL process so determined by the Party. We are, after all, a REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC. This seems like a really interesting PR stunt.

Stunt or not...at least they're posing the questions...unlike at the DNC where it was reported that 90-95% of the delegates were against the war and then J&J went out there sounding like Bush-Lite on natioanl security and the war-on-terror.

They listed 19 issues, and didn't list anything about the borders or illegal immigration! The RNC is so frigging clueless!
