The normally press-shy Bruce Springsteen is going public tonight with a one-on-one interview with ABC's Ted Koppel.
Springsteen is appearing on "Nightline" to talk about the intersection of pop culture and politics, as well as a long-rumored concert tour starring him and a lineup of other politically outspoken acts such as REM and Pearl Jam.
The Los Angeles Times reported last month that the tour would hit swing states around the country this fall, with the goal of unifying fans to vote against President Bush in November.
Springsteen rarely does interviews, print or television, so nabbing him for tonight's "Nightline" (Ch.7, 11:35) is something of a coup.
It's not a total surprise, however, that if Springsteen's going to talk, it's with Koppel and on his serious-minded show.
Two summers ago, when Springsteen released "The Rising," his first CD after Sept. 11, he did an extended interview with Koppel that aired over three nights.
During that stretch, Springsteen also appeared live on NBC's "Today" show, as well as doing an extended sitdown with Matt Lauer.
Koppel is conducting the interview today in Colts Neck, N.J., where Springsteen lives.
Media pimping for Kerry again.....
I'm SURE we'll see showcases for rightward-leaning celebs on Nightwhine in the near future. [/sarcasm]
F**K YOU BOSS
Dittos.
Dont need to support either from this time forward.
On a par with stepping in dog crap being a "coup."

Serious news show.
I thought the boss was the working man's musician, who exemplified the fact that dreams come true and with dedication an individual can better him or herself. Yet, he is endorsing a candidate that believes hardwork can take you all the way to a ceiling and then you get taxed into one place. But, he's wealthy and famous entertainer, which today apparently means it is your duty to inform the peons of all the "truths" that exist in the political arena.
"...please... dear lord... won't somebody just PAY ATTENTION TO MEEEEEEEE -- ?!?"
What could possibly be more important than a supercilious left-wing hack interviewing a braying leftist has-been?
Geez, there's that piece of dry skin on my foot I really need to attend to...
Where's his career?
Uh...nominated for multiple Grammy awards for his last album, album went #1, sells out every concert in less than an hour.
The 11th commandment: Thou shalt not speak ill of The Boss.
He's not The Boss - he's a musician. The real Boss laughs at such human arrogance...
Can't wait for Koppel's interview on Ted Nuggent's upcoming 'Bowing for Democrats' tour.
if the republicans want to counter, they should get some
bands who haven't quite made it yet, but are huge in their
own area. Promote new, local talent AND raise money while supporting the real musicians-those who play for the love
of it, not for money or Cash and Kerry.
we like your music......... your politics suck
I think the Concert Vote tour with Springsteen etc.. will backfire big time. It will be like the Wellstone Funeral Political rally in 2002.
They have gone too far. How many people in Mid-America think that pop-stars and other cultural stars are having too much impact on our society already? These people will revolt against pop stars trying to increase their influence through this concert gimmick. These concerts may really push middle of the roaders away from Kerry. Which is a double win for us.. It helps Bush out and it puts these stars in their place by rejecting their power grab.
The concert will backfire just like Michael Moore's Movie and Wellstones Funeral rally did.
Like hell.
I guess you're all young'uns. But I remember when Bruce had a big hit with "Born in the U.S.A." and President George H.W. Bush invited the Boss to some ceremony or the other to praise him for such a patriotic song, for being such a wonderful American young man. He had no idea Bruce was a stone lib. (It IS a great song...)
