Nothing on the main homepage for nfl.com....but I followed the link for the cowboys and got this:

"Quincy Carter Not At Morning Practice
Cowboys starting quarterback Quincy Carter is not at Wednesday's morning practice here at training camp in Oxnard, Calif., and witnesses say they saw him being driven out of the Residence Inn parking just before the start of practice. The club is not commenting on Carter's absence, but obviously will address the matter at head coach Bill Parcells' daily press conference, carried live on DallasCowboys.com at 11:30 (PDT).

Sounds like Carter might have been doing something in the hotel room he shouldn't have.....reminds me of Stanley Wilson at the 1988 Super Bowl......

I think Carter is a very decent guy. I don't think he would have been doing anything off the field that would have gotten him cut. It is likely his performance on the field that is a problem for Parcells.

The suddenness of the change in his situation with the Cowboys definitely makes one think it has to do with off field issues. I would think the Players Association would have a problem with this if it was a routine substance abuse matter since Carter has no past history. I'm just guessing, but I think it may be a gambling issue.
