Kerry is a weak campaigner. Barring some kind of national disaster, his best shot is the debates. Democratic true believers think he'll kill Bush, one on one. That's what they thought about Al Gore, too. Bush is a much better speaker than he was 4 yrs. ago (couldn't be much worse). I think the key is he is now much more emotionally connected with what he is saying, i.e., he is doing what he truly believes in.
Kerry is the opposite. He can't say what he is truly thinking or feeling, and therefore already restricts himself to babbling.
I think Kerry will only be a big bag of gas at the debates.

Good point.
If he says what he thinks, he's toast!
If he says what he doesn't think, he can be pointed out as a hypocrite...and he's still toast!

I'm thinking that such a debate will involve JFnK using a lot of verbal tricks against the President's very solid positions, and then looking smug, as if he's accomplishing something. And I think that will make Kerry look like even more of an effete smartass, lacking gravitas.
The President needs to bring out and put on display Kerry's ponderousness, as well as his vacillating indecisiveness. Then, when JFnK starts acting decisive and tries to portray a strong position, frontally attack his position as wrongheaded, impossible, or dangerous. IMHO.

Kerry is the opposite. He can't say what he is truly thinking or feeling, and therefore already restricts himself to babbling. I can't watch Kerry on tv for more than a minute - he never says anything of substance, just speaks in vague generalities ("we must move forward", "a better America"). And his delivery seems like monotone droning - even when he's not reading a speech, it sounds like he is. It sounds like he doesn't believe in what he's saying, and isn't excited about it. No charisma, no spontenaity. And most important - no detectable sense of humor.
On a more positive note, Kerry may help scientists find a cure for insomnia (hey, algore invented the internet, it could happen).

Kerry could debate himeself-first he argues one side of an issue then he argues the other side of an issue. He can back both up by using his Senate votes.....It's the complexity don't you know?
