LONDON -- The general who headed the U.S. military prison at Abu Ghraib said in an interview broadcast Tuesday that there had been a conspiracy to prevent her knowing about prisoner abuse at the jail.
Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski, who was suspended by the Pentagon in May, has denied knowing about any mistreatment prisoners until photographs surfaced at the end of April. U.S. investigators have not implicated Karpinski directly in any of the abuses.

Ok.
conspiracy to keep her from knowing?
You mean your subordinates lied to you and kept you in the dark? England is saying otherwise. But who knows. Apparently no one knows just what the hell was happening in your prison except lots of panties and pyramids.
Why...oh why...do I get this feeling that those in charge of that prison weren't the cream of the crop?
Clinton's army, might have something to do with it.
The better officers of course know what is going on, hidden or otherwise.
Yes another of Hillry's generals.
Ah. A conspircacy to put incompetents like her into positions of more responsibility than they can handle.
This is rat media headline stuff.
If the AbooGrabMe prison scandal keeps rearing its ugly black-hooded, dog leashed, naked guy pyramid building night, head....John Fonda Kerredy must be doing worse in the polls than we thought.
Next, we will hear that's all the fault of the International Jewish Bankers Collective.
THIS is why she should be in Leavenworth. She's lying. She's a female Kerry.
I wonder how long it'll be before we get another beheading in "response" to the newest episodes of fave series of the far left, "Abu Graib"?
Aka political correctness. In civilian life, Karpinski conducted "high-stress" motivational seminars for junior executive types. This reportedly included a lot of treatment that would qualify as hazing under slightly different circumstances. So we have what amounts to a professional practitioner of hazing and abuse, put in charge of a prison where people are systematically hazed and abused, and she claims she didn't know?
It happens that I am a retired field grade officer of the United States Army. I cannot prove it, but I am convinced that it would have been impossible for soldiers under my command to systematically commit major crimes without my knowing at least enough to start a comprehensive investigation. It defies belief that this could happen under circumstances such as Abu Ghraib, where everyone involved would, or should, have known that serious misconduct would lead to an international uproar.
"I am convinced that it would have been impossible for soldiers under my command to systematically commit major crimes without my knowing at least enough to start a comprehensive investigation."
As an officer, you obviously understand the first rule of leadership:
What happens under your command is your responsibility.
As a manager in the civilian world, I understand that too:
If my team fails, it is a failure I share in. As Andy Grove puts it in his book, he never rates an operations manager higher than the rating of the organization he leads. Ignorance is no excuse for a leader, it's your job to know what's going on and fix problems.
If there were training problems, lack of standards, etc., she either knew or should have known.
I find her constant whining and attempt to point fingers unprofessional and frankly, part of the media 'spin' to take the blame even higher... "anyone but me".
That is the goal alright!
Old CYA janis is gassing off again.
No excuses, no questions asked.
IMO...Karpinski's biggest crime wasn't allowing this to happen, but allowing such a loose policy with cameras in a military prison facility. That's just asking for trouble, media attention, and lawsuits.
Klintoon's military promotion system= F---UP and move up. I don't think the psuedo general should have advanced beyond E-4. I know she towed the commie-demo line for the promotions. Bush/Cheney2004
Thanks Ernie.
