President Bush signed the United States-Australia Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act today in a ceremony in the White House Rose Garden. Later in the day, Bush headed to speak at the 122nd Annual Knights of Columbus in Dallas, Texas. The President praised the group for its continued work with communities. Meanwhile, First Lady Laura Bush, along with daughters Barbara and Jenna, greeted workers in New York City who work in buildings mentioned in the latest terror attacks. Great poster!!
I think it just happened yesterday, so hopefully it will get picked up. Can you imagine if Pres. Bush or VP Cheney would have said that????
Yes.....My dad and son do that when I bake their favorite oatmeal cookies....One in the mouth and couple in each hand....Daddy says his mother used to fill all seven kids and two cookie jars with the same recipe....took all day.
Think I'll bake up a batch and send them to them. AS kids we called them breakfast cookies...lots of oats, nuts, raisens.
Hi, Emily!
Amen to that!
I think of the patriots on Flight 93 every day!
They make me proud to be American.
I fell in love with America on 9/11!
We're so lucky he's our President. You have to know the Hand of God is in all of this. He works in mysterious ways. I imagine when GW was growing up and had to go to school in New England, and was miserable at Andover, his dad's old school, he never thought about ending up in the WH. But you go where you're called, and God love him, GW rose to the challenge with Laura at his side.
I did too.
Pippin, weren't you and I talking about how it's not fair the other night that some people just don't get to see the president and others do? Really I wish there was an equal opportunity clause somewhere.
Your recipe sounds yummy!!!!!! I'd ask you for the recipe but hubby and I are doing Atkins and oatmeal and cookeies are unfortunately OFF our menu, at least for now . . . :-(
DId you ever get to the WH? Maybe we should plan a tour just for freepers with the Jan activities....
***I heard she denied sending the recipe in at all. Like Woman's Day wouldn't verify a thing like that??? Riiigggttt. I think she's just mystified because she doesn't really know what a "recipe" actually is. (meow)***
She said someone in her campaign office sent the recipe in. She also said that she doesn't even like pumpkin-spice cookies and (here's the good part) that she thinks she knows who did it and it was done to be nasty. And that's one of her own people.
It gets worse -
Democrat presidential candidate John Kerry has replaced his religion adviser with a woman who was one of 32 clergy members to file a friend-of-the-court brief on behalf of the atheist who challenged the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance.
According to the Catholic League, the Rev. Brenda Bartella Peterson's amicus brief on behalf of atheist Michael Newdow "shows infinitely more concern for the sensibilities of atheists like Newdow than it does for the 90 percent of Americans who believe in God." Peterson replaced Mara Vanderslice as director of religious outreach.

Tickets for the Inaugural balls are always made available to the public. Resellers charge an arm and a leg for them.
The way to find them is to check with the Bush-Cheney campaign, after they've won, or the Inaugural Committee (there always is one) and request information on the prices for the various venues.
I found a notice in the Washington Post that listed that the tickets for any of the balls were available for $100.
I know people who paid a LOT more than that - but these tickets were from the Inaugural Ball Committee and I suppose that is where the scalpers buy them and then resell them at ridiculous prices.
Truthy
I thought you'd get a kick out it.I know I sure did! Pope John Paul 11 also seems to have had a good relationship with President Bush #41. I remember seeing a picture a year or so ago when #41 was in Rome. Both smiles were warm with firm handshakes.
Yes it has, I've been incredibly busy so my time on FR has been limited to just 2 to 4 hours a day instead of 12 :-)
I remember that conversation :o)
Never been to the WH!
The last time I tried was 9/11. We've visited DC since then, but never gone to the WH. I'd love to go and have the tour we were trying to take!
What is wrong with these people???
Oh it wasn't Republican goons, he specifically "thanked" President Bush for sending HIS goons, it would make them work harder! Gag, what a disgusting man.
Add the ('s) when you sing: God's blessed America
Because he certainly has......
