I'd really like to know the % of those behind their unions who vote differently than their union leaders. Not just first responders, but also teachers. I'm sure they'd do everything possible to keep such info from getting out.

It's not just police officers and firefighters, but machinists and aerospace workers who are by and large conservative, unlike their lockstep union leadership.

I became a "core member" during the 2000 elections because I objected to my union dues supporting the Democratic party. I got a visit from a union honcho trying to persuade me to change my mind. He failed. If I were still in the union, I would be doing the same thing this year.
