That story about "God bless America" is truly shocking -

And true.

what did the person complain about?

A US Flag and "God Bless America"

What possible objection could there be?

I was "bringing religion into the work place" is what he said. I was honoring a God other that allah is what he meant.

What did other people in the office say?

Mostly they stayed out of it, A goodly fraction weren't US Citizens.

The møøselimb was US born ethnic Asian Indian, trained in kick boxing in Thailand (Which I note, is having beheading problems these days)

This always makes me think about how in the second world war, German clergymen were blessing their troops and praying for victory, whilst in Britain and America, the clergy were doing the same. The problem is, God doesn't see us separated into the national groups we define ourselves by. "At this Peter opened his mouth and said: "For a certainty I percieve that God is not partial, but in every nation the man that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him. (Acts 10:34,35.) It's a very complicated issue, and one where patriotism and nationalism confuse matters.
