When I first read the article, it instantaneously occurred to me that it was no wonder they were missing two disks if indeed they were stolen. Made me wonder how two Brits had free access to top-secret info on disk. Either someone else was involved in helping them access these disks (an employee at Los Alamos?) OR someone at Los Alamos who should have been sticking like glue to these "spies" was negligent in their duties and should be terminated and prosecuted.

The next thought I had on the matter was that it sounded so "James Bond" Almost as if the theft was warranted for some reason. If true, it represents a whole new bag of worms for Los Alamos management and national security. If the Brits who allegedly took the disks are aligned with the British government, that's one thing, but if they are not, then that's a whole different ballgame.

Virginia To Host Terrorism Drill

(State News, VA, August 2nd, 2004, 1:12 p.m.) More than four thousand local, state and federal personnel will take part in a major counter-terrorism exercise that begins later this week in central and eastern Virginia.

According to a statement from Governor Mark Warner, the drill, called "Determined Promise 04," will begin Wednesday and run through next Tuesday, August 10th. The exercise is sponsored by the federal government. Warner says Virginia and California were chosen by the United States Department of Defense's Northern Command, or NORTHCOM.

We just had a test of the EAS about 10 minutes ago. A "statewide" test according to the voice. I've never heard one this late, or at an odd time. Normally they're at the top of the hour around 11:00 am.

You are expressing what I have been thinking since the Sunday announcement. The areas announced are the safest to be in now. You don't plan a major hit without secondary objectives. Plan "B" is what I would like to determine.

The best way to shake the economy would be to influence the "consumers". The destruction of buildings won't make a difference. Too many backups are in place in regards to records.
