Exclusive: Nancy Reagan Strongly Endorses George Bush

In a statement made Monday to NewsMax.com, Nancy Reagan said she was strongly endorsing President Bush's re-election and rejected a published Internet report that she was not backing his re-election.

Joanne Drake, the chief of staff for former President Ronald Reagan’s office in Los Angeles, said in a statement on behalf of the former first lady, “Mrs. Reagan supports President Bush’s re-election 150 percent.” Published reports have suggested that Mrs. Reagan was unhappy with President Bush for his opposition to taxpayer-funded stem cell research that kills human embryos, which Mrs. Reagan has supported after her husband’s long bout with Alzheimer’s disease.

Mrs. Reagan’s son Ron spoke last week at the Democratic National Convention. He indicated that his mother supported his speech and that she was unhappy with the Bush administration for its stand on embryonic stem cell research.

Ron Reagan gave an implicit endorsement to the Kerry-Edwards ticket, which supports taxpayer funding of that type of research, when he told his national audience, “Whatever else you do come Nov. 2, I urge you, please, cast a vote for embryonic stem cell research.”

Drake, however, noted in her statement on behalf of Mrs. Reagan, “I think everyone would understand that while she may not agree with the president on every issue, this campaign is more than just one issue – it’s about leadership, and she believes that President Bush is the right man for the job.”

Mrs. Reagan’s statement came on the heels of a report published Friday on the Web site capitolhillblue.com.

That story, headlined "Nancy Reagan to Bush: 'We Don't Support Your Re-Election,'" quoted a “spokesman” for Mrs. Reagan as telling the site, "Mrs. Reagan does not support President Bush’s re-election and neither do most members of the President’s family."

Drake also denied the Web site’s claim that Mrs. Reagan told Republican leaders she wanted nothing to do with the party or President Bush, or that she "went ballistic" when she learned the Bush campaign was test marketing ads that used Reagan’s photos and speeches in an effort to show he supported Bush and his re-election.

Capitolhillblue.com also claimed that Mrs. Reagan called Republican Party chief Ed Gillespie to demand the ads be destroyed.

“The quote that appeared in Capitol Hill Blue is incorrect,” Drake said on behalf of Mrs. Reagan. “Further, I do not know where the information came from [indicating that] the former first lady went ballistic when she read the Bush campaign was test marketing new ads. She did not speak to Ed Gillespie on the telephone and demand the ads be destroyed ...”

By endorsing President Bush’s re-election, Mrs. Reagan joins President Reagan’ elder son, Michael, who has already announced his strong support for the president's re-election. Michael will be speaking at the GOP convention in New York.

The left has no shame. When John Kerry attacked Bush yesterday for lying about African uranium, then you know all you need to know.

Kerry does know that Wilson is a liar and that Iraq was seeking uranium. Otherwise he wouldn't have removed his material from his website after he was thoroughly discredited.

But yet, Kerry continued to repeat the lie because there is a large number of Americans who still believe it.

The left is fully comfortable with getting elected on lies that are proven lies.

"They are full out radical leftists who hate the America of our Founders"

You've nailed it. Everything is a political game to them. The deaths of 3,000 people were first politicized by them. Various media whores and Senate Dems have run around making blatantly seditious public statements, accusing the president of crimes against humanity, enabling terrorists, leaking information, STEALING information, dreaming up complete fictions like yellowcake-gate and Plame-gate and actively undermining the morale of our troops during a war. It's pretty obvious, from all the carefully crafted comparisons of the WOT to Vietnam that they WANT us to lose, not so their daughters are forced to wear hijab and forbidden to wear gold wedding bands, but so President Bush is humiliated and defeated. The whole Vietnam/Quagmire thing was nothing more than a long run up to announcing THEIR candidate John Kerry while American soldiers bled and died.

Kerry thought that President Bush doing his job as president today was nothing more than a stump speech and jumpd in with his own presser. He claimed HE thought of all the changes the 9/11 commission suggested before THEY did, AND told the president. When I don't know. I mean, he hasn't even been able to find the time to go to work for over a year.

These people are SO disassociated from reality that they're genionely frightening. When it comes to our national security during a war, they're scarier still. They're like a two year old playing with a loaded gun, and completely unaware that what they're doinc could get themselves or someone they care about killed.

The proof should be in the pudding.

There isn't any "proof" in "pudding".
Regardless of if it comes from FOX, CNN, ABCNBCCBSPBSQWERTYWXYZ, or otherwise.
If this country, as an electorate, have been dumbed down to that extreme,
PRAY.

That's good enough for me. God bless you, Nancy...

That doesn't sound like a press release. It sounds like a response to a reporter calling Joanne Drake. I will try to let you know if Fox reports it, if I can remember your screen name.

Scumbag Thompson published a story that George W. Bush is being medicated by physicians for wild mood swings.

Thompson is a cockroach.

In your case that's guaranteed.

“The quote that appeared in Capitol Hill Blue is incorrect,”

Didn't you find Doug on a Kenny Rogers lookalike site? Under the "Transgendered Kenny Rogers Lookalike" category?

CapitolHillBlue's story was suspect before, because no source spoke on the record. If Nancy were really going to hose Bush, she'd've authorized such to be said ON the record (or not at all).

I doubt she will. With President Reagan's death, and such, she's probably not wanting the limelight, let her grieve peacefully.

Lesson learned, do not believe everything you read on the internet, main stream media, or hollywood, etc. Especially lying liberal news. IE, Michael Moore
