Those looking for the chupacabra will have to find another candidate.

Well, there goes my theory that it was Barbara Mikulsky out on the campaign trail. Nobody could ever mistake her for a fox, even an especially mangy fox.

Hillary would qualify as a vixen with sarcoptic mange. It has a tendency to locate on the ears, elbows, hocks and butt. Hillary attracted Bill when she wore a pork chop around her neck.

Basically, yes. This one is the baby of the one they couldn't identify earlier. Mamma was something like hairless (versus 70 percent for this one) and the available pics were Godawful.

People can't identify a red fox when they see one???? The dead one was pretty much hairless. Hairless animals often look quiet different than their usual fur-covered form. Those hairless cats, for example, look pretty freaky.

The dead one was in Texas. Still not sure what that was.
In this Maryland case the bad photos were taken by a live animal triggering some kind of shutter trap. That, and some live sightings by people who had no idea what they'd seen, was all the info available until now.

Ping!
Animal control has custody of the fox and plans to rehabilitate the animal to release back into the wild.
Here are some of the original pictures of the 'other' one... I did guess that it was ~something~ with mange... coyote or dog of some kind.

Oh, the poor thing!
Sarcoptic mange is so awful. I hope they can clear it up.

People can't identify a red fox when they see one????Well, they are pretty rarely seen in these parts, and all people had to look at were some pretty grainy pictures like those I posted above.
