Senior Hamas fugitives apprehended in Tulkarm

By MARGOT DUDKEVITCH

Four senior Hamas fugitives were arrested Monday in Tulkarm and a Tanzim member was arrested in Bethlehem following a full curfew that was placed on the city throughout the day.

Soldiers at the Hawara roadblock also found remnants of explosives in a Palestinian ambulance, using an explosives detector – the likes of which has been recently implemented in several roadblocks throughout the West Bank.

IDF seeks suicide bomber in Bethlehem

IDF forces have sealed off the West Bank city of Bethlehem Monday and are conducting searches inside the city for a potential suicide bomber.

The army entered the city after receiving intelligence that a suicide bomber was planning to leave the city and carry out an attack in an Israeli city.

The blockade started at noon Monday, but there has been activity in Bethlehem and surrounding areas in the past few days following the arrest of several fugitives.

All entrances and exits into the city have been sealed and the army is only allowing access to humanitarian services. Human rights groups in the West Bank told Army Radio that many Palestinians have been trapped in the city even though they are not residents of Bethlehem.

2 Kassam rockets hit Sderot

Two Kassam rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip to the western Negev town of Sderot Monday morning. One of the Kassams hit an apartment, injuring no one but causing damage to the building.

The family was not in the house because on Sunday one of the daughters asked they all move to Beersheba for some time, until the rocket attacks are stopped.

Israel Radio reported that when the landlord came to the scene and saw the damages he fainted and was treated by paramedics. Four other people suffered from shock. Three of them were taken to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon for treatment, Magen David Adom reported. On Sunday, a Kasssam rocket fell at the entrance to a kibbutz in the western Negev, near the northern Gaza Strip. Two people were lightly wounded from shrapnel and another suffered from shock. IDF troops have been operating in the northern Gaza Strip in past months to try and prevent the launching of Kassam rockets.

Palestinian woman killed in Khayn Younis

IDF forces entered the town of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip early Monday morning.

Palestinians reported that one woman was killed and six others were wounded by gunfire. IDF officials said they are investigating the incident.

During the operation helicopters fired deterrence fire at an open area in order to distance armed Palestinians from approaching the soldiers. The IDF said the fire was not directed toward people.

Five bombs were detonated near soldiers during the operation. No one was wounded in the explosions.

IDF troops also destroyed three structures in Khan Yunis used to launch gunfire and mortar attacks.

Palestinian gunmen have been firing gunshots and mortars from Khan Yunis to the nearby Gush Katif settlement bloc, aiming at soldiers and civilians alike. Two soldiers were lightly-to-moderately wounded in the past week in two separate incidents when gunmen fired shots at an IDF post near Neveh Dekalim. A week earlier, six children were lightly wounded when a mortar shell fell at the entrance of the community center in Neveh Dekalim, the largest settlement in Gush Katif.

Three infiltrators killed on way to Gaza settlement

IDF troops shot and killed three Palestinian gunmen en route to launch a combined shooting and bomb attack near the settlement of Elei Sinai in the northern Gaza Strip.

On Sunday night soldiers spotted several armed Palestinians near Elei Sinai, heading toward Gaza's security fence in the area.

The soldiers fired several tank shells toward them. Later, when searching the area, security forces discovered the bodies of two Palestinians armed with kalashnikovs. Remains of a third body were also discovered, apparently that of the terrorist who had a bomb in his possession.

Palestinians said three gunmen were killed, however only two bodies were found. Soldiers are still searching the area.

Army officials said the armed Palestinians were shot several hundred meters from the security fence and took advantage of foliage and shrubs which they used as cover in an attempt to approach the area undetected.

Odds the UN will condemn this use of an ambulance to transport explosives?

...about the same as a flock of (kosher) pigs flying over the U.N. It's the same chance you'll see this in any of the European or left-wing press.
