A FLAT TAX 13% and NO deductions like in Russia is MUCH much better.....(that would tik off the lefties....ha ha)
I also like the flat tax but prefer the NRST because of the added privacy. There really is no need for the government to know how much "income" we make.
I understand that, but let's read:
""By adopting a VAT, sales tax, or some other alternative.."
It looks like they're looking at all the options. Personally, I favor the NRST. But I'm all ears and quite open to other alternatives.
"NO....NOT a VAT...its added to EVERY transaction beween producer and consumer....and it REALLY really jacks up the price and adds to inflation (like in EU)."
EXACTLY!
"A FLAT TAX 13% and NO deductions like in Russia is MUCH much better.....(that would tik off the lefties....ha ha)"
I'm WITH YOU! A flat tax is best and NO deductions.
The only problem with a flat tax is the IRS is still around to abuse people!!
Of course, we're talking Federal Tax here, not State..
Individual States will continue to operate their own Income Tax, Property Tax, Sales tax, etc..
Regardless, this will NOT get rid of the IRS.. There will still be taxes to be payed, and recieved..
Someone will have to enforce whatever the new tax laws are..
There will still be some sort of Central Agency for Revenue and Taxes...
VAT is also administratively complex, whereas existing accounting systems, already configured to handle state and local sales taxes could easily handle a national sales tax as well. Simple to collect, simple paperwork, simple everything.
This would be TOTALLY COOL! And, I'm a C.P.A.!! I've gotten just close enough to taxes several times during my career to know that the tax code is an abomination, an offense against man and God. ;)
I totally agree. As good as the VAT sounds in theory, as others have noted in this thread without a Constitutional amendment repealing the amendment that gave us the income tax it's too big a risk of winding up with both a VAT and an income tax.
Hard to believe that Russia has a more conservative tax policy than the USA. But it does.
You're correct;however,we'll probably get the damned VAT and NEVER get rid of the IRS.
And if you are paying 13% in FIT, well...you must be rich.
Or something.
