MEET THE KERRY-LOVING PRESS

MEET THE KERRY-LOVING PRESS [KJL ]

John Tierney and his posse surveyed 153 journalists at a press party in Boston last week. Some findings, which will not shock you, but always worth noting, still:

When asked who would be a better president, the journalists from outside the Beltway picked Mr. Kerry 3 to 1, and the ones from Washington favored him 12 to 1. Those results jibe with previous surveys over the past two decades showing that journalists tend to be Democrats, especially the ones based in Washington. Some surveys have found that more than 80 percent of the Beltway press corps votes Democratic.

and

Liberals complained in 2000 that Mr. Bush got off easy because he was better than Al Gore at charming reporters. So we tried to test for a likeability bias. With which presidential nominee, we asked, would you rather be stranded on a desert island? Mr. Kerry was the choice of both groups: 31 to 17 among the Washington journalists, and 51 to 39 among the others.

Why? "Bush's religious streak,'' one Florida correspondent said, "would drive me nuts on a desert island."

I'm not registering with the NYT to get all the details. Besides this just confirming what we already know.

They should have added Ted Kennedy to the list to be on an island with. He seems to be the best swimmer.

When Kerry tells the press (as he did Sun. morning) that, "just saying there are WMD's in Iraq doesn't make it so." -- I wish some reporter would say,

"Well, just claiming you are a war hero doesn't make it so either."

I noticed that CNN, which I only watch while captive at the health club, begins their hourly news updates with Kerry and Edwards and their activites first, before mentioning as an afterthought what our President is doing on the campaign trail. Subtle, but effective tactic.

Also they frown mightily when mentioning Bush or Cheney speaking in cold, harsh tones, but are wreathed in smiles and speak lovingly about Kerry and Edwards.

The liberal media bias is blatant in print and on TV.

Can someone help me get some info or the clip from CBS Saturdays evening news about a group of ex-soldiers who were stationed in Iraqi, are back home now protesting the war outside some building while CBS interviewed them. A father of a soldier serving in Iraqi stopped his car in the middle of the road, jumped out and almost went at it with those DISGRACEFUL ex-soldier protesters. We need to post the link to the clip...MY SON TOLD ME THE FATHER ALMOST TOOK NO PRISONERS! I'm dying to see the clip!</p>

They'll have to try harder ... Bush comes out of the 'Rat convention in Boston with a huge bump in the polls. This has to disheartening as hell to Kerry/Edwards and their allies in the liberal media.

Yes it is. But the good news is it does not work. Look at the latest polls. Bush got the bounce from the Democratic convention.

Few voters saw Lurch at the convention the ratings were bad. But they did see him and hear him on the newscasts. And all the spin in the media world could not convince the public to like him.

We think the media is powerful becuase they constantly tell us they are powerful. But they are not powerful. They try to sway the voters but they mostly fail.

If the media were as powerful as they claim, Ike, Nixon, Reagan, Bush 41 and Bush 43 would never have been president. The Biased media supported candidate has only lost 8 out of the last 13 races. That is not a great track record.

Amazing.......he probably thinks that Bush would be obsessed with evangelizing and going off about fire and brimstone.

What would actually happen is that the Prez would be spending his time building shelter and hunting food while his leftist island-mate tried his darndest to leech off his successes.

The media is depicting Kerry as the incumbent and President Bush as the challenger.

Amazing and astounding that in an environment saturated by a liberal mainstream media independent thinking remains not only possible but in fact exists.
A mighty statement to a core belief in independence, straightforwardness, and holding on to an existence as freedom-loving independent American citizens.

The President is a religous man, so that would drive them nuts? Does that statement tell anything about the leftist in the media? I guess it would be difficult to be around anyone as good and decent as the President if your moral compass is always pointing south.

Scum would rather be with scum. No surprize here.

Yep. These are the same type of folks who are afraid to darken the door of a church because they think Christians have 2 heads and 5 eyes.

Yes indeed, it is hard to live amongst the enemy. I have to be on my toes at all times. However, when I talk to my neighbors, most of them seem to be solid, conservative people. I think UT is the hotbed of liberalism in town.

Just a note on a new twist I've heard on liberal media bias--and it's a cute bit of rhetoric.

Overheard a journalist claim that the coverage is rightward because the leftward journalists have to work so hard to prove that they're objective and fair. EG--overcompensating...

I do not kid. This guy was serious.
