I just don't see the point of them when all we're ever told is "go about your regular routine like normal."
In reading the report, prior alerts were fairly well correlated with bad guys being nabbed somewhere and did appear to have a disruptive effect on mission plans of the mohammedans.
The decision will be made later today.
My guess is the decision has ALREADY been made, reason for Mayor of NYC coming on at 4:00, after Tom Ridge. From that point it will be panic control.

About the most any of us can do in that regard is to try to avoid what might be considered tempting targets for terrorism.
And video discs that Almosaleh claimed were just music actually had video of Iraqi radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr and his militia, along with calls for resistance against the United States, and video images of ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein and the invasion of Iraq, the indictment alleges.
Scary stuff, too.

All I saw was "no change to red was considered" in the article.
