He was from Houston.
The Free State Project is that group working to get 20,000 liberty-lovers to move to New Hampshire and carve out one sphere of Freedom in "Amerika."
Oh also I hopped in the car checked out Grafton a bit to see what all the fuss is about, nice place....has that diverse "no zoning" feel to it.
Free Towners included some losers tho who have I understand been weeded out; I'm sure Graftonites and mainstream Free Towners will do just fine making life uncofortable for any real troublemakers. The rest of the movers (all 19 of them) are probably carbon copies of the average Grafton resident from what I've heard.
Ludicrousness defined: (Free State Project) The whole idea seems ludicrous somehow, for people to move somewhere for the sole purpose of imposing their toleration of evils which they claim to not have any personal interest in. "You know, I'm personally not involved in the manufacture or use of crystal meth, and am opposed to it, but I will sell everything I own and move 2,000 miles away for the sole purpose of moving next door to someone who does so that I can impose my toleration upon him. I'll sit on my porch overlooking his land with its meth still, and at all the traffic coming and going, and at all the environmental damage, and all the health and lives being ruined, and I'll wave and smile at them. It feels good, knowing that they wave and smile at me, too, as I go to church on Sundays and to the bingo game on Wednesdays." |
Good.
For all those with notions of what the Free State Project is about, it might be helpful to go to the sight and get the gouge.

I might also suggest, for a distillation of libertarin ideas (fantasy without too much Rand), "HOPE" by L Neil Smith and Aaron Zelmam, and "THE PROBABILITY BROACH" by L Neil Smith. Both show just how rooted in the Constitiution the "liberts" are.
Just another perspective/.02

And since I forgot to add this, condolences to the family. Didn't know the fellow, but anyone who can heard cats/rugged individuals was likely a sturdy fellow.
