Couple with those church explosions in Baghdad I'm of a mind that there's an impending terror attack. All that was missing was the timing; it was a SPECIFIC and credible threat by all reports.

My guess is the timing of those specific and credible threats might be NOW.

IMHO, I'd call off the Convention. President Bush doesn't need it. We all know what he can do and what he has done. I say Call Off The Convention!

AQ has to take a shot at trying to effect the election - and attacking NYC in the month before the convention is their best shot. As most of us said, Boston was never a viable target, why would AQ disrupt their own candidate's convention? But an NYC attack makes perfect sense for them this month. Imagine all those people coming into NYC for the convention, after some public targets have been hit by suicide bombers? Very bad.

I think Bush should be giving this press conference himself.

You don't "call off conventions". You can, however, have the delegates assemble in their respectives states, cast their ballots and send them into the RNC for certification. President can claim he is too busy being PRESIDENT and protecting the American people, than to put aside four critical days of his time for speeches and balloons and theatrics (thus upstaging the Democrats as PR-hogs only, not caring about terrorism).
