New Single and Video Released - 'You Do Your Thing' Montgomery Gentry - New Single and Video Released "You Do Your Thing"
Nashville, Tenn. (July 19, 2004) Country duo Montgomery Gentry are releasing their second single, "You Do Your Thing," from their highly successful CD of the same name. Coming off a #1 chart topper with the rocking "If You Ever Stop Loving Me" the new song is a hard-hitting ballad with Eddie Montgomery on lead vocals.
"You Do Your Thing" is an in-your-face statement that Eddie and Troy believe in - you do your thing and I'll do mine. The video concept captures everyday elements of the Montgomery Gentry lifestyle and beliefs. Shot in and around Nashville, Michael Salomon was brought on as director and Mark Kalbfeld as producer.
The video will make its World Premiere this Thursday, July 22 on CMT's Top Twenty Countdown 6:00pm, 10:00pm and July 23 at 6:00pm (all times Eastern).
The video features Eddie and Troy riding with their family through town. They encounter anti-war protestors, crooked politicians, drug dealers, prostitutes, and much more.
At one point in the video Eddie Montgomery goes after a drug dealer with a baseball bat.
Put me on a mountain, way back in the back woods
Put me on a lake with pickin on the line
Put me 'round a campfire cookin' something I just cleaned
You do your thing, I'll do mine
I ain't tradin' in my family's safety
Just to save a little gas
And I'll pray to God any place, any time
And you can bet I'll pick up the phone if Uncle Sam calls me up You do your thing, I'll do mine
Hey, I'll worry about me You just worry about you And I'll believe what I believe And you believe what you believe too
I ain't gonna spare the rod
Cuz that ain't what my daddy did
And I sure know the difference between wrong and right
You know, to me it's all just common sense
A broken rule, a consequence
You do your thing, I'll do mine
Hey, I'll worry about me You just worry about you And I'll believe what I believe And you believe what you believe too
I'm gonna keep on working hard
Make my money the old-fashioned way
I don't wanna piece of someone else's pie
If I don't get my fill on life I ain't gonna blame no
one but me You do your thing, I'll do mine
You ain't gonna be my judge Cuz my judge will judge us all one day You do your thing, I'll do mine

Montgomery Gentry rocks Fort Knox despite the rain
By SARAH BAKER
Shalu Glover celebrated her 16th birthday in the second row of the Montgomery Gentry concert at Fort Knox's Godman Army Airfield Sunday and nothing not even a thunderstorm could coax her from the coveted spot.
About 30 minutes before opening act Trent Willmon was to take the stage, officials warned country music fans of the storm, suggesting they find shelter in their cars until it passed.
"Not a chance. We're staying right here," Glover said when she heard the announcement.
A few minutes later, the rain rolled in.
Poles holding the VIP tent fell. Ceramic plates and food from the VIP dinner that had just wrapped up crashed onto the pavement. Some concertgoers ran to the parking lot. Others held their folding chairs over their heads.
The first few rows of the audience shared a huge tarp.
The concert started an hour later than planned.
Glover was still happily parked in her second row seat, ready to see Montgomery Gentry, one of her favorite country groups.
"It's not all sappy and slow. It gets you excited and makes you want to jump up and dance," she said of their music.
Most fans weren't as lucky as Glover and watched the show in damp clothes.
Denise Clark, a fan in the ninth row, watched the show in damp clothes, despite her efforts to use her chair as an umbrella. But her spirits weren't dampened.
"We can deal with the rain," she said, smiling.
Despite the rain, concert-goers were excited to see a show at Fort Knox a ven-ue closer to home for many.
"I was surprised they were coming so close," said Julianne Thompson. "You usually have to drive to Louisville or Lexington."
She saw Montgomery Gentry last year in Lexington.
Sgt. Doug Brinker, who returned to the United States from Iraq a few weeks ago and is temporarily stationed at Fort Knox, said he felt the concert on post was fitting, as both members of Montgomery Gentry are Kentucky natives.
As he waited for Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry to perform, he said he was sure the show would be exciting.
"They just have that high-speed energy," Brinker said.
Fans responded to that energy the second the duo opened their performance with "Gone," a song from their latest album, "You do Your Thing.
As they twirled their microphone stands and stomped and jumped around the stage, fans screams, danced and sang along. And no one seemed to remember the rain.
"They just have that high-speed energy," Brinker said. "They don't just come out and strum along. They put excitement in the music."
