What Kerry Left Out (NY Post editorial; Kerry's Vietnam record)

August 1, 2004 -- WATCHING last week's Democratic infomercial in Boston, one could be forgiven for thinking that John Kerry went straight from the Mekong Delta to the podium at the Fleet Center, with barely a stop in between.

That he had almost nothing to say about his 20 years in the U.S. Senate was surprising. But that almost nary a word was heard about the events that rocketed John Kerry to nationwide fame is shameful.

For America didn't learn of Kerry because of his exploits in Vietnam. He became a recognized figure after his return — when he publicly accused those same American soldiers whom he now claims to champion as "war criminals."

Kerry has never disavowed his anti-war activities and accusations. Last spring, on "Meet the Press," he declared that he was "proud" of what he'd done, claiming he and his fellow activists, like Jane Fonda, "saved lives."

So why no campaign ads featuring his Senate testimony? If Kerry showed moral leadership and patriotism by exposing the "atrocities" committed by U.S. troops, why not remind us of it?

Here's why:

Is that for real? Did they actually distribute those things? Forgive me, I don't know- I wasn't conceived until the Carter administration. That's just sick!

HOLY #&*($#%$*%^#!!! I JUST NOW heard him say almost verbatim the exact same thing...except he was on a microphone during the 1971 Soldiers Week of Protest.

This guy is a piece of work.

He's proving that no matter how he's slicked up his image and no matter how he tries to spin his anti-war/America past...that if you put a suit on a POS...all you have is a well dressed POS!

And of course, MSNBC sugar coats the title of their program: "John Kerry: Bringing War Home"

I'm going to be sick right now.

Zell Miller brought up the same point, wondering if Kerry had been in the Witness Protection Program during that time.

My wife calls Kerry, "Rip Van Kerry", for the same reason.

Does anyone have documented proof of foreign support for the US Anti war movement of the 60's and 70's? I keep hearing that communist governments funded a kitty but I can't find the documentation.

Don't quote me but I think I recall Gen Giap (NVA CINC) said that they used the anti-war protests as propaganda for their troops and to demoralize the POW's. Kerry's testimony is specifically mentioned.

"Kerry Envisions No More U.S. Troops for Iraq" - Reuters Headline 01 Aug. 04 1204hrs.

THis guy hasn't changed ANY of his core beliefs (if he actually has any) since he sat in that congressional hearing in 1971 and lied about our soldiers.

But two journalists with strong anti-war credentials, Neil Sheehan and James Reston, later exposed "Winter Soldier" as a mass of fabrications by people who hadn't even been in Vietnam.

You have to wonder if that would happen today. Would anti-war journalists expose a fraud, or would they bury it?

Marc Racicot (sp) remarked to Woofie (CNN) that Kerry used 70 words out of 70,000 words to "cover" his 20 years in the senate.

Yes. Standard fare. Also, go rerun '70s TV series & watch TV cops hunt down or shoot evil, freaked out VN vets. Check out just about all the war movies made about VN. Read the novels written about VN grunts. Kerry & the VVAW ( Note; many in VVAW weren't VN vets ) spewed this trash and changed American opinion of those who served.
