I still like the line I have seen about Kerry "reporting for duty" in his acceptance speech.
Will he serve for 4 months and then cut and run? THAT'S part of his Vietnam service record, too.
That salute and comment were SO childish. Hard to believe the man is 60 years old and that he's reliving 4 months from many years ago. Real heroes like my husband have long forgotten most of what they did and saw in Vietnam and don't flaunt Purple Hearts either. The same thing with my father in World War II, who was on the USS Nevada in Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. And my uncle, whose helmet is in the Smithsonian for his bravery at Guadalcanal. REAL heroes are not tedious like that and never have to tell anyone, it's a part of their character.
It was so surreal -
John Kerry, who single-handedly perverted the perverted the purple heart badge when he deliberately wounded himself to get a "ticket home"...
John Kerry, who single-handedly destroyed the reputation of a generation of soldiers when he sang lie after lie in front of an audience of millions...
John Kerry, who single-handedly killed 20,000 American soldiers when he stopped the Hanoi delegation from suing for peace...
John Kerry, three decades later, lifted his hand and single-handedly saluted himself for his service to his country; and all the dead soldiers and the suicidal veterans and the prisoners left behind moaned in their graves...
I thought I heard the dead call to him, but maybe it was just the wind...
