Two months ago, Marissa Dainton changed sex for the third time in 11 years. She started life as Mark Dainton in 1967. In 1992, a year before her first sex change operation, she took the name Patricia Vincent. Four years later, Patricia decided to go back to living as Mark. Now she has become a woman again. Sitting in the lounge of the small terrace house she shares with her wife, her eyes stray to the wedding photo on the mantelpiece. "What happened to me should be a lesson in the need to make sure you're really ready before changing gender," she says.
Once Dainton had a penis, then a vagina, now she has nothing. Soon after her first sex change, she joined an evangelical church and became convinced her operation was sinful. She stopped taking oestrogen and was prescribed testosterone. Her beard and body hair began to grow back, and her sex drive soared. Before getting married to another member of the congregation six years ago, she had her artificial vagina removed. This left her with smooth skin where her genitals once were.
"My wife said she'd feel more comfortable about having a physical relationship if I didn't have a vagina. You'd have thought I'd have realised it was a mistake because I wasn't bothered about not being a 'complete man'. I never missed what was taken away," she says, smiling sardonically.

Lord, we need a new pronoun to deal with these people. Something that combines she/he/it . . . hmm . . .
Exactamundo! Of course this is British society that is even more liberal with the expenditure of taxpayers' money on stupidity like this than ours is.
This is about the UK where the government pays.
And it will save the lives of countless numbers of kittens.
This is sad. Even the "alternative" LA Weekley had a sad story of an unlicensed
"sex-change" doctor here in So. California.
What bunch of educated scam artists some of these sex-change medicos are.
I agree 100%
They've already started.
I've read threads on DU debating the definition of a "child" - when "child" was subject to sexual exploitation by an 18 year old.
It's coming.
Little logic lesson: Saying these procedures led to depression does not say these people were mentally healthy prior to the surgery.
You can't possibly believe that these mutilations had no effect on their psyches.
Or can you?
That was precisely the point of my post. Read it again.

I'm sure they did. But for anyone to do this to themselves they'd have to be pretty messed up to begin with. Disagree?
lol ... and I just cancelled a wee bit "scorchy" response. We agree.
The analogy I use about giving surgery to someone desperate to change sex is it's a bit like offering liposuction to an anorexic."
Does Finch have a point? Ferguson says only hormones and surgery have proved effective in treating transsexualism. "Psychotherapy has not been successful at 'curing' transsexuals in contrast to people with other body identity disorders, such as anorexia or body dysmorphia."
No, the person has a deeply troubled soul. It's too bad people weren't trying to help the person when the trouble first started. Now they are very lost.
It's surreal that doctors exist that will perform such surgery. They should all be in jail.
Don't forget all the "gender rights" fascists who support "transgendering" with endless propaganda in our schools, universities, Hollywood, etc.
Yes the doctors deserve most of the blame but these confused people are pushed to mutilation by the left.
PERMITS HELL... their "Society" PAYS FOR IT!!! National Health and all...
What don't you get?
Mental illness manifests itself in many ways - some do drugs, some commit suicide, etc.
It wouldn't have made a difference if these people got the surgery or not - they would have continued to self-focus and destory themselves eventually, only it would have been by the own hand and it wouldn't result in newspaper article.
Actually, most sex change operations lead to prostitution as the he/shes need to pay for their surgery somehow. Its only one small step to depression and possible suicide from there.
Dr. Brown performed such an operation and when his patient died, he was charged with murder. Seems there was some discussion that the media pretty much whitewashed his live shows, etc.
It's one thing to have oneself mutilated. It's quite another to then claim to be something one is not. As for that nonsense about being a male in a female body or vice versa, what about those who feel they are a young person in an old body or a rich person in a poor man's body, or an Irishman in an Iraqi body?
Fortunately, most people on the thread "get" it. Undergoing sexual mutilation will worsen preexisting conditions and create new unmanageable problems.
