"Sorry" ain't good enough!
It certainly isn't, and whoever approved this outrageous action needs to be put out of a job and sued into bankruptcy. What kind of police chief approves unlawful entry of a private home without a warrant? Not to mention unconstitutional search and seizure without a warrant.
This is exactly something that might have been done in Nazi Germany. It is an intolerable outrage when it happens in the USA.
