Just to clarify: I am not faulting her for her weight problem (two children after age 50 would cause most of us to gain weight). What I AM faulting her for is this bold-faced lie. She hasn't been in a size 10 in quite a few years. If she is saving her size 10 clothes, I will bet they have those big Sue Ellen Ewing shoulder pads.

I will be brutally honest: when I had to get a dress for my daughter's wedding in February, I was horrified to find that I needed a size 18. I joined Weightwatchers, and am now down to a size 14.

I haven't seen a size 10 since 1977. If I made a statement like that to anyone who knows me, they would laugh in my face.

This was a lie, pure and simple.

Thanks for the clarification. I have been thinking about her and her age, and having children at that age, and how tough it must be to try to keep weight down. I know I am not that young, and once I passed 40, weight has been a problem. I have gained weight, and am having to work very hard to take it off. But you are correct, it is the lie that she's "had to put away the size 10's" that is so galling. Why lie like that?
