Welcome to Free Republic.
The best I can tell you is that she's a RAT who broke the law and betrayed the public trust, and she should have been brought up on campaign tampering charges as well.
Kahn isn't a theif, she's a censor.
I worked in Phyllis Kahn's first campaign for office some 30 years ago +/-2yr. Her main primary opposition (it was a district where GOP registrations could stuff a phone booth) was a rascal named Matt Stark, a former pres. of the MCLU (Minnesota chapter of ACLU). Ironically, she was a victim of Stark campaign workers (some say Stark himself was seen) stealing her campaign literature and vandalizing her supporters' lawn signs. I don't think any charges were pressed; victory was the sweetest revenge.
Her husband, Don, is (or was) a prof. of mathematics at the University of Minn. I think she's still a "safe" candidate in a "safe" district, so this may be embarassing, but not fatal to her re-election prospects. If I still know her at all, my guess is that if the case is pressed, she will probably plead guilty to a negotiated charge and pay a fine (especially if reminded of the history of her original campaign, where she was the victim rather than the perp).
They caught her butt...that's the only thing she's sorry about.
