Why are we so fat?

Calories are much cheaper than they used to be.

Interestingly, the same link notes that the U.S., U.K. and Australia (three very fat countries according to official data) are the only countries that measure obesity accurately, by external evaluation. Other countries with lower official rates rely on self-reported claims about height and weight, which tend to be optimistic. In short, Americans are fatter than everyone else, but not by as much as is generally believed.
