They Said It! (Sen. John Edwards, "I wasn't mislead")
Republican National Committee ^ | July 29, 2004

Posted on 07/29/2004 6:39:19 PM PDT by RWR8189

SEN. EDWARDS TO CHRIS MATTHEWS:
"I DIDN'T GET MISLED."

MSNBC’S CHRIS MATTHEWS: “Let me ask you about – Since you did support the resolution and you did support that ultimate solution to go into combat and to take over that government and occupy that country. Do you think that you, as a United States Senator, got the straight story from the Bush administration on this war?  On the need for the war? Did you get the straight story?”  SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: “Well, the first thing I should say is I take responsibility for my vote. Period. And I did what I did based upon a belief, Chris, that Saddam Hussein’s potential for getting nuclear capability was what created the threat. That was always the focus of my concern. Still is the focus of my concern.  So did I get misled? No. I didn’t get misled.” (MSNBC’s “Hardball,” 10/13/03)

Uh oh, he is already positioning himself for the run for President in 2008.

Let the campaign begin. Can't wait to see Cheney throw those words back at him. He will have to summon all of his lawyer instincts and then he will come across as a....lawyer. Great.

Too bad he's a blood-sucking phony plaintiff attorney. Too bad he is a race panderer. Too bad he is into class warfare. Too bad he is for raising taxes. With this statement, he would have some potential to join our side.

No big deal. It takes little intellect to be a lawyer. Ambulance chasers like Edwards don't traffic in Big Ideas. Their forte is: "how far from the intersection was he when you first saw him? What distance separated the two of you? How far from the intersection were you when you first saw him?" How far from the intersection was he when he applied his brakes?" blah, blah, blah. Please don't be fooled by the "trial lawyer" thing. They're a dime a dozen. Bright-eyed Edwards types are denizens of every county courthouse in the country. He was able to parlay his ambulance chasing into a run for the Veep job. This is the end of the road for him. Wait and see.

Exactly. That is why I said that if the American public sees a lawyer it is good for us. The general perception of lawyers is not good. I know, I know, Clinton was a lawyer, per se, but he wasn't one who made his reputation by being one. It was sort of a resume bullet point. Lawyers, especially ambulance chasing ones as Edwards was, are not looked on with great favor by most americans.

"Lawyers, especially ambulance chasing ones as Edwards was, are not looked on with great favor by most americans."

Ditto that. My father is a lawyer and he thinks Edwards is a piece of crap. Then again, my father is a district attorney, not an ambulance-chaser. He actually sends criminals to the clink, rather than shaking down companies and taking small business owners for everything they've got. Don't forget that there are a few good lawyers out there. ;- )

Yup. Edwards is covering his butt nicely. When Kerry loses in Nov., he'll be more irrelevant than Gor -- if that's humanly possible. Unfortunately, Edwards will have to shove Hill out of the way if he wants the top spot in 2008, but maybe she won't win reelection in 20006. We can always hope New York voters come to their senses.

My dad's an attorney too....He said when Kerry chose Edwards (with his trial lawyer buddy's $ donation) it was immediately contracdicted by the donations from the medical and insurance areas*. Sort of I'll call and raise ya situation. Bad move by Kerry. Kerry loses more than he gains.

*Already the head of Insurance in State of Mississippi, a democrat. has opening stated he will support Bush.....Watch 'em fall in line.

When it comes to NY.......you can be sure that the votes are already in the machines for Kerry. No need for the folks to bother showing up.

Yup, and the deader the voters are, the better. That way, there's no argument over whether they pulled the right lever. Thank God that awful convention is over. Dull isn't the word. They were insane to nominate Kerry. One caller on a radio show this afternoon said he looked like an old man during his speech, kept pushing his upper teeth with his tongue, as if his false teeth were slipping. Hmmm. Well, TerAYsa afford new dentures for Nuancyboy.
