Barbra Streisand Plays in SC Senate Race? Tenenbaums Campaign Cashes $1,000 Check from Barbra Streisand!
(Columbia) According to documents filed with the Federal Election Commission, Inez Tenenbaums Senate campaign has accepted a $1,000 check from Barbra Streisand. Streisand is a well known ultra- liberal activist famous for making disparaging remarks about Republicans and President George W. Bush in particular.
Chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, Katon Dawson said, First, we learn Tenenbaum was praised by the Communist Party as an exciting candidate then we find out the Pro-abortion group EMILYs List has raised over $415,000 for her campaign. Now we discover her campaign is being backed by one of the most far-out, ultra-liberal musicians of our time. Tell me just how is this supposed to help her independent campaign in South Carolina?
Here are just a few of Ms. Streisands controversial comments:
Barbra Streisand has had it with President George W. Bush and shes not going to take it anymore. The diva fired off an angry memo to Washingtons top Democratic legislators yesterday, calling Bush a destructive man, reports Reuters. In the memo, titled Nice Guys Finish Last, Streisand writes, This is not the time to be weak. ... Unless we win, well be consistently on the defensive with our fingers holding the dike against the resurgence of the far right. ...You dont have to be ruthless like the Republicans, just be strong. (D. Parvaz, Streisand Draws Bead On Bushs Actions, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, April 04, 2001)
Streisand takes issue with Bush's handling of environmental matters, reproductive rights and U.S. labor laws. She writes that Bush was selected rather than elected, and that he stole the presidency through family ties, arrogance and intimidation, employing Republican operatives to exercise the tactics of voter fraud by disenfranchising thousands of blacks, elderly Jews and other minorities. Chairman Dawson added, I wonder why an active informed liberal Democrat like Barbra Streisand would support an independent like Mrs. Tenenbaum who supports Pres. Bush on the war? Does Babs know something South Carolina voters dont? ###
Yeah, maybe this would work in CA, but not in SC.
I was in a tailor/cleaners in Beufort,SC and talked to a lady who made clothes for Babs for teh movie Prince of Tides. The dress was fine but there was a tag on the inside of the dress that Babs had to have cut out. WTF?
The one celeb that I hate the most. Doesn't her kid have AIDS and that is why she hates republicans?
Rosie O'Doughnut had no comment.
No she hated Republicans before her son was even conceived.
Me:
Shut da f*** up!
Yeah, but you have to remember that it is Bush's fault that her son has AIDS.
Need an SC Ping, please!
Here is the Newsless Courier's report on it:
Streisand lends support to Tenenbaum for Senate
COLUMBIA--Democrat Inez Tenenbaum has received help from at least one Hollywood celebrity in her bid for U.S. Senate.
Barbra Streisand sent Tenenbaum, the state's education superintendent, $1,000, according to campaign finance records.
The singer and actress has helped raise money for several Democratic candidates, including presidential candidate John Kerry. At a recent fund-raiser for Kerry, Streisand sang a special 2004 election version of her song "People."
The song poked fun at White House figures, including President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, "the spookiest person in the world."
State Republican Party Chairman Katon Dawson questioned why Tenenbaum, who is targeting independent and moderate voters, would want support from Streisand.
"Her campaign is being backed by one of the most far-out, ultra-liberal musicians of our time," Dawson said.
Tenenbaum's spokeswoman Kay Packett said her campaign represents many people.
"People across the political spectrum give to Inez because they like her independence," Packett said. "It doesn't mean she agrees with everything they believe."

The Communist Party? Here? At home? South Carolina? Streisand? My word, what is going on? Am I in the right State? This is South Carolina, right? EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
No doubt about it. The question is, how many of them live in SC?
I hope that the DeMint campaign has a Tennenbaum/Streisand commercial in the works.
