He reached into the river and pulled his man to safety. Pulled his boat around.

Now talks about values not being what you use in a political ad. Kerry is a man who as "real" American values.

Note to Russert: Yes, that is counted as a slam at Bush and Cheney

You know, what ticks me off the most is that people perform heroic deeds every day of their lives as part of their jobs and they don't get the hero status that Kerry has. How many other guys were rescued by their buddies in Vietnam and those buddies never got the recognition they deserved? How many other Vietnam vets performed heroic deeds that never got reported? John Kerry took a normal response to someone falling in the water and turned it into a Silver Star for himself. Makes me want to puke.
