"He reached into the river and pulled his man to safety. Pulled his boat around. "

You know, what ticks me off the most is that people perform heroic deeds every day of their lives as part of their jobs and they don't get the hero status that Kerry has. How many other guys were rescued by their buddies in Vietnam and those buddies never got the recognition they deserved? How many other Vietnam vets performed heroic deeds that never got reported? John Kerry took a normal response to someone falling in the water and turned it into a Silver Star for himself. Makes me want to puke.

%%%%

A day late post, I am just catching up on all the terrific comments.

I think that Kerry turned around to save the fellow who fell overboard because it was his fault that the guy fell overboard. I am positive that Kerry could not steer a straight (or anticipated) course under enemy engagement conditions, and his flip-flopping at the helm cause the sailor? to lose his balance.
