That woman needs mental health care.
You know, I kinda like this woman...but she is a bit hoopy(as they say in the Boston state house). Actually, I guess she's really more cosmic than anything else. But then, if I had 600-million-bucks in my kick, I reckon I could say what I wished as well.
Bottom line is this: We cannot allow Mr. Kerry to win this election. He will make Michael Dukakis look like Franklin Roosevelt...promise.
It is essential that ALL references to this woman identify her as Terry Kerry. She wants to be wife of the President, that's what her name (in American) would be.
The author of this piece needs some education - he's really embarrassed himself.
from Abraham Lincoln's First Inaugural:
The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield, and patriot grave, to every living heart and hearthstone, all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.
This has got to be one of the most famous speeches in American history - every Republican should have at least read it.
What is outrageous is not the phrase, but the fact that this Heinz/Kerry person appropriated the words of this great Republican to justify policies that will weaken, rather than strengthen the country he loved and served.
Hey Lifson - at least pretend you're an educated citizen. Just watch Ken Burns' Civil War if you're too lazy to read the book.
Well, the rich ARE different from the rest of us.
The last paragraph, about Hillary, is the best.
In a sneaking way, I kind of do, too (though I found the "shove it" scene more disturbing than amusing). I'll wager she was stiff with tranquilizers for this speech. Wouldn't want her within miles of the White House, of course.
In my experience, rich people are entirely mad.
I am still waiting for someone to tell me in what year and how did she become a citizen. Everyone assumes she not only is a citizen but that she voted Republican when her first husband was alive and until she switched registration last year.
And this differs from the Clintons how?
"A slight audible brief buzz rose from the crowd. It was, after all, a stunning statement. Even this friendly crowd seemed shocked at the self-centeredness of the remark. She revealed to the world in that moment that the Presidential campaign, as far as she is concerned, is her toy, a fashion accessory, something for a woman who already has five houses, a Gulfstream V jet, and obsequious servants, business managers, and a Senator-husband dependent on her checkbook for the lifestyle he enjoys so much. "
Great summation of that "moment". Same thing I was thinking more or less as I watched it.
And a great ending observation concerning Hillary Clinton.
The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield, and patriot grave, to every living heart and hearthstone, all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature. - Abraham Lincoln's First Inaugural.
The problem is not that ta-RAY-zah said "mystic chords of memory" but that she stole those words from the mouth of Abraham Lincoln, who would despise her and her husband's desire to weaken the country he fought to save.
Mr. Lifson needs to at least pretend that he is acquainted with American history before he embarrasses conservatives further by displaying such ignorance again.
Didn't you just love the way she bent down to the microphone and slooooowly said, "I...am...Tereza Heiiiinz Kerry," then just paused and let it sink in, while the audience was forced to applaud to avoid a very awkward moment. What a bleeping WEIRDO!

As my best friend so beautifully stated yesterday, "People don't vote for a candidate because of his wife, but sometimes people will vote against a candidate because of his wife. I think this is the case here.
Oh now, some FReeper somewhere has to have a screen grab of this....Pleeeeze?
One caveat: the phrase "mystic chords of [national] memory" is from Abraham Lincoln's first inaugural address and should not be derided as mysticism.
I could not listen to her speech, since I was still ill from trying to listen to yesterday's demconven antics, so I have one question: Did she credit President Lincoln for the quote? (I assume she did not)
I have the same question. Imagine her first husband sponsored her citizenship? What are the details??
Ohhhh, and I almost forgot, her husband was in Vietnam!
Bump for later reading.
