Republicans Try to Ridicule Kerry with NASA Photo

NORFOLK, Va. (Reuters) - Republicans distributed a photo of Democratic candidate John Kerry wearing a head-to-toe protective suit on Tuesday in comparison to a famously unflattering photograph of Michael Dukakis in a tank that helped sink his presidential bid in 1988.
Late-night comedians made fun of the picture and President Bush's re-election campaign e-mailed it under the caption "Earth to Kerry." "Bubble Boy," read the headline on the front page of the Boston Herald, a newspaper that has not been a supporter of Kerry.
The photograph was taken on Monday at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, when Kerry along with astronauts-turned-U.S. senators John Glenn of Ohio and Bill Nelson of Florida were required by NASA to wear the precautionary suits to tour the "Discovery" shuttle due to launch in March.

I'm not trying. I am.
I'm a do-er, not a tryer.
(and not an evil do-er.)
Republicans? I think anyone who saw this will realize that Kerry did it all by himself. He is a photo-op addict, and now he will pay the price like Michael Dukakis. Both idiots, I might add.
CBS is running the picture!

Long ago and far away, I wanted to be a print reporter and no, not because television wasnt yet invented. Wouldve been one, too, if not for my wretched (or is that retched?) spelling. But sometimes still wish I were one, especially when I see headline writers miss a big chance, like this one for John Kerrys Dukakisesque photo op yesterday at Cape Canaveral POLITICAL ADVANCE WORK: ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. You really have to wonder what the candidate, his staff, and anyone else involved was thinking with that one.
Lost, I suppose, in the rush to compare the bizarre shot with Dukakis-in-a-tank circa 1988 was this: The Dukakis shot was grievous because it was an attempt to paint the candidate as strong on defense that instead gave rather the opposite impression. I suppose this was an attempt in its way to make John Kerry look bullish on science, but it didnt backfire because it sent the opposite message. It backfired because, put bluntly, it made Kerry look silly, bordering on weird.
Again, who says political campaigns turn on trivialities?

It was the designer model. The "Sergio prevente".
Thanks! Keep that crying baby pic handy because I'm sure there will be many opportunities before Nov. to post it as the media and JF'nK blame the Wascally Wepublicans for their screw-ups.
Oompa loompa, doopity doo
I've got another waffle for you
Oompa loompa doopida dee
If you are dumb, you will elect me!
Republicans? I thought Kerry himself posed for those photos.
A pictures worth a thousand words and this one is screaming idiot a thousand times!
I disagree entirely. I don't think this picture hurts Kerry at all. Maybe this is just because I'm a space freak, dunno, but the Dukakis dynamic is not in place. That dynamic involved the tank, which was out of character for him. Here, Kerry is just taking a tour and is not seen to be exercising an infantile fantasy the way Dukakis was. I don't think the suit means a thing.
Of course, the Dems blow it out their nether orifice by COMPLAINING that it makes him look ridiculous. They should have played it up as pro-space.
EEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!
Beginning of the end! And the Pubbies never had to move a finger to get it rolling. Even Hitlery, who's now on her knees thanking Saint Gertrude Stein for this miracle, wasn't involved (presumably.)
If Dukakis was trying to bolster his credentials on defense in 1988 by riding in a tank, was BubbleBoy trying to bolster his image as a space cadet??
Just wondering.
