Defeated Democratic Presidential candidate Rep. Dennis Kucinich has released his 2004 Democratic Presidential Convention delegates, telling his supporters to 'vote their conscience.'
Kucinich, who formally endorsed John Kerry last week, met with his 64 delegates, with many saying that they would still cast their vote for the four term Ohio congressman at roll call Wednesday night, according to an email Tuesday from his campaign.
'I am releasing you to vote your consciences. You will be the ones making your own decision,' Kucinich said.
According to the email, Kucinich stressed to Democratic delegates that it was important to unite behind Kerry and VP candidate John Edwards. But some supporters still insisted they wanted to cast their first round ballot for Kucinich.
Candidates who do well in primaries and caucuses are eligible for 'pledged' delegates to the convention. Party rules say these delegates should cast their convention vote 'in all good conscience to reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.'
However, they are not bound to vote for any candidate at the convention. That means delegates for the dropouts-or even Kerry-are free to support someone else, regardless of whether their candidate has released them.

You mean they can vote for Bush? No person of conscience could ever vote Kerry/Edwards!
What? All three of them.
DemocRATS don't have a conscience!
Well, I hope the both of them make informed, thoughtful decisions.
How come the fanatical Deaniacs aren't doing this as well? Arent they just as whacked out as the Kucinich people..
They could do that because each individual can define his own "Consicence" and then act accordingly.
But they could not possibly Vote their 'Conscience'... THEY DON'T HAVE ONE!
lol, Situational Democratic convention ethics!
Does anyone remember a story about Zell Miller being a democrat delegate? Will he be casting his vote for President Bush?
3 more votes for Al Sharpton.
The last count is 64 or 67 depending on superdelegates.
How can they vote their conscience when neither Castro nor Osama is a candidate?!?
So by releasing his delegates, Kuchinich can say, 'I didnt do it!
67... the way Kucinich is carrying on, you think he held the fate of the nomination in his hands.
I thought it would be the Dean forces trying to do this!
So much for the "Democrats united during convention" slogan?
The 'united forces' lasted about 16 hours or so..
"Defeated Democratic Presidential candidate Rep. Dennis Kucinich has released his 2004 Democratic Presidential Convention delegates, telling his supporters to 'vote their conscience.' "
WOW!!
Thank God he didn't tell them to vote their minds. Then the Dems would be in REAL trouble.
Sounds like the little twerp is releasing a flock of carrier-pidgeons.
