Who's that at the Democratic National Convention? You mean Bill Clinton and his senator wife, Hillary? Or maybe Al Gore and Jimmy Carter. How about John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry?
No, it's Jerry Springer.
He's the host of the TV show known for its bleeped verbiage and on-stage fighting, but he's also the former mayor of Cincinnati and is a delegate to the DNC from Ohio. In fact, he's been attending Dem conventions since 1972.
This year, however, he's been so popular among Democrats and the mainstream media (is there a difference?) in attendance he may even be upstaging some of the Democrats' noted political figures in Boston for the confab.
How popular? Let's just say when he went to Fenway Park to see the Red Sox play, he was greeted to chants of, "Jerry! Jerry!" from fans.
That didn't happen to John Kerry. Nor has it happened to other Ohio delegates, either.
What's the attraction? Well, everybody likes to watch a good fight on television, so the cheers and popularity are understandable.
But this is politics, and that's another beast altogether.
For his part Springer who briefly considered a run for the U.S. Senate last year says his notoriety won't help or hurt John Kerry.
He says, "Nobody is going to say 'I love that Jerry Springer Show, therefore, I'm going to vote for Kerry', or 'I dislike the Jerry Springer Show, therefore, I'm not going to vote for Kerry,'" according to the Toledo Blade newspaper. So why is he getting so much attention?
"He certainly attracts a crowd. He can put people in the seats," Jim Ruvolo of Toledo, former chairman of the Ohio Democratic Party, told the Blade.
"He was handed a spot in Boston as a voting delegate for John Edwards because of the huge amounts of money he has brought into the Ohio Democratic Party, either directly through his own contributions or by making fund-raiser appearances," the Blade reported.
Springer is also working while in Boston - he's reporting nightly for Ohio TV stations.
"The Springer Democrats"
I wasn't aware that there was another kind.
You mean the inner-city trash he has on his show votes for democrats? SAY IT AINT SO!!!
I do admit that I like to watch his show once in a while.
Kinda reminds me that I'm not so bad off after all. ;^)
My G_D, the dems are the party of trash. Consisting of White & Black hucksters, porn filth, homo & lesbian deviate life styles, Christ haters, Christian haters, welfare brood sows, absent fathers, each with of dozens of bastards to their credit and our debit, gimme, gimme mob, child killers, social parasites, America haters, American haters, Islamist terr perp lovers, accomplices in openly aiding and abetting illegal criminal immigration, and ect, etc, etc & etc.
Last, not least, but most of all, they are self haters, hell bent on a destructive rampage to make the rest of us pay for their lacking of fortitude and morals.
How any sane America loving American could identify with this group of sickos is beyond comprehension.
Good points. Sean vs. Hannity. Leno vs. Letterman. O'Reilly vs. King. Dubya vs. Gore (and now Kerry). Isn't it great that the GOP is always the better looking one and the Libs are always weak, fat (or sickly looking) and gross? Oooh yes, John Edwards is just such a beautiful man... to who? He looks like the spineless geek of a lawyer that he is. And was his hair ever considered cool? I know when people get old standards may change, but c'mon!

Hey, I'm a Dem :) And I'll be voting for 43. Again. And I'm not alone...
The fitness club that I go to has The Jerry Springer Show on two of the TV's. I caught the show in college from time to time and most of it was funny because it was idiots getting into staged fights. Over the last year, I have been exposed to the "new" items on his show, including people flashing for beads during the last ten minutes of the show without fail. They also now have a striptease pole and for a while a few months ago, they had a daily stripper dancing around the pole. I am now trying to get a complaint put together to send to the FCC so that this show will be moved to the hours set aside for indecent shows, from 10 pm to 6 am. The show is really pushing the limits and Springer has no problem pushing the limits for his own agenda. If any of you would like to join me, please send complaints to the FCC.

I don't know...Jerry Springer is an intelligent guy, you'd have to be in order to keep that show of his on the air for so long.
The Springer Democrats - they do Base like no one else could!

Here we see Teresa Heinz, using Jerry Springer Tactics, telling the Press..to "shove it!"
You know what, I kinda agree with the 'rats when they say Nader is a hypocrite for taking donations from upstanding GOP conservatives.
That is why the dems are hypocrites x10 for taking money from this incredible sleazebag. This guy has made his fortune blatantly exploiting the poor and uneducated.
Next time you hear some 'rat trying to take the high road, simply send them to this donation page!
I apologize. :-)
I also forgot about Zell Miller and Ed Koch.
Well, the Democratic Party is the party of white-trash, welfare-leeching, refusing-to-work Americans, so it is only fitting that Springer is their poster child.

Birds of a Feather flock together
Jerry Springer is probably ok. It's the mentality of the idiots the participate in the show
Sure he's trash - the thing is is that he's not an arrogant snobby elitist like the rest of Hollywood pretending that these problems don't exist. At the end of his shows he always has a positive message for the participants. IMO Springer is just (or was, I don't know if the show is still on or not) highlighting what's really going on in the underbelly of America, and hopefully try to change the minds of those at-risk people, so they won't engage in the very acts that the people on the Springer show do.
"Nobody ever went broke underestimating the
taste of the American public."
