SYDNEY, Australia A United Airlines flight from Australia (search) to Los Angeles (search) returned to Sydney International Airport on Tuesday after staff found a note carrying a bomb threat, Australia's transport minister said.

Posted some articles on this, about two hours ago - as soon as FR came back up after it's downtime - there really hasn't been much new mentioned since then on Australian news, and at that stage things still seemed rather confused.
Down here, the story is that an airsickness bag was found in one of the toilets with a bomb threat written on it. The pilot checked with the company and was told to return to Sydney after being about 90 minutes into the flight. Passengers are now being screened and sent to hotels for the evening. Doesn't look like UA840 is going to LAX tonight . . . .
Was there any barf in the bag?
I'm sorry.
"I'm sorry."
haha... No you're not!
Gotta' keep these stories straight in me noggin....
Very possibly - some initial reports said there'd been an attempted cockpit invasion.
Now they are saying, as indicated previously, that a note was written on a sick bag saying there was a bomb on board.
The passengers and crew have been cleared of involvement, suggesting it was on the aircraft before earlier. Update shortly for anyone interested - Lateline news starting here, and it's the lead story.
Police say the threat was almost certainly a hoax. Sick bag was found with the letters B O B written on it - captain concerned it stood for 'Bomb On Board' and decided to fly back to Sydney.
Stupid TV host asks if it has been suggested that the pilot overreacted - reporter says nobody has anything but praise for the pilot.
Passengers were informed of there was a problem, without details, and remained calm. One has questioned why if there were concerns about a bomb on board, they had to sit in the plane for 45 minutes after it landed.
Unsurprisingly passengers being interviewed appear to be a mixture of Australians and Americans.
This reporter suggests that the passengers have not been cleared - but there is little likelihood of working out who it was, so all will be allowed to travel tomorrow - flight leaving 11.30am.
Prime Minister says he has been briefed, and supports pilots decision.
"Sick bag was found with the letters B O B written on it - captain concerned it stood for 'Bomb On Board' and decided to fly back to Sydney."
Maybe BOB meant "Barf on Bag." so......look out!
They will bury any and all stories that interfere with their girly man's moment.
Probably some poor scmuck with the name Bob who decided to "claim his seat"...so he could go to the bathroom and come back to his seat and find it...
Good question.

Maybe an Outkast fan was on board?
Please correct your headline per link - "Australian Cops: Threat on United Jet a Hoax"
Why do the pilots make a big deal out of something very flimsy -- but ignore 14 Muslims running to the lavatory trying to build a bomb on board?
No doubt.
First story - cockpit invasion.
Second story - written bomb threat.
Third story - hoax.
Somebody needs a new story line. They don't turn planes around for hoaxes.
If you don't normally turn around for a hoax, more details are emerging - there was apparently a senior US diplomat aboard the aircraft, which would tend to make the threat seem more possible.
