WELCOME DICK CHENEY to Ontario Airport, Ontario, Cal., TOMORROW (Tuesday) at 2:45 p.m. Bring signs with large lettering! To attend the rally, please arrive no later than 2:15, due to security checks.
The Vice President will later attend a fundraiser in Riverside for Senate candidate Bill Jones. A rally to welcome Cheney to Riverside will be held at the Mission Inn, downtown, at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Let's have a great FReep turnout for both events!!!
Cheney's arrival, and the welcoming rally, will be held at 2161 Avion St., below the Ontario Airport. Take Grove or Euclid to Mission Blvd. Left on Mission to Vineyard. Left on Vineyard. Right on Avion.
BRING HANDMADE SIGNS!!!!!
Democrat candidates always come to Houston several times for fundraisers even though they know they don't have a chance to carry Texas. Big bucks in Houston. Is that why Cheney is in California?
I don't know. Your guess is as good as mine. Most California trips are probably fundraisers. But it's equally important to welcome Bush or Cheney whether it's a real campaign visit, or just supporting a candidate -- in this case, a Riverside fundraiser for Bill Jones.
He'll be coming to the Jackson County, Oregon, fairgrounds this Friday...I'm a'goin'!!

Steve Schuh (909) 653-0743
E-mail: RiversideAction@yahoo.comWHAT: MASSIVE PROTEST
WHEN: Tuesday, July 27, 2004 @ 5:00 P.M.
WHERE: The Mission Inn (3649 Mission Inn Ave, Riverside)
assemble @ corner of Orange & Mission Inn Ave
WHO: People dissatisfied with Cheney's & Jones' political policies.Riverside Area Peace & Justice Action (RAPJA) has called for a "massive rally and protest" of Vice President Dick Cheney's visit to Riverside, CA to attend a fund-raiser for Republican Bill Jones. RAPJA is part of a "Coalition of the Sane" which decries the Bush/Cheney policies of "lies, wars, and corporate ties" that have so damaged the United States. The rally will be held at the corner of Orange and Mission Inn Ave and in front of the Riverside City Library (3581 Mission Inn Ave).
RAPJA is expecting a large and noisy demonstration as people from Santa Barbara to San Diego (according to RPD Detective Frank Patino) plan to attend. "We could easily see over one thousand people - more than attended the October 15th rally for Bush," says RAPJA member Steve Schuh. Groups as diverse as the Democrats of Greater Riverside, Green Party, Latinos Against War, Fellowship Of Reconciliation, Peace and Freedom Party, RAPJA, National Alliance for Human Rights, Women in Black, Code Pink, A.N.S.W.E.R.-LA, and Death Penalty Focus are helping to plan the event.
The rally will feature a number of speakers including: well-known Riverside writer Jean Denny; Steven Sterns, Democrat of Riverside; Riverside poet Phil Courtney; Jeremiah Akin speaking about Bill Jones and electronic voting; and others to be announced. The theme of the speakers will focus on Bill Jones' and Dick Cheney's record on California, U.S., and international issues.
In addition, many of the participating organizations will have tables with literature, campaign materials, buttons, and bumper stickers.
Protesters to Greet Cheney in Riverside
By Matthew Lopas, Times Staff WriterLocal protesters are revving up for a demonstration outside Vice President Dick Cheney's fundraising dinner in Riverside on Tuesday, but authorities are not expecting a major disruption...-- snip --
Members of the Riverside Area Peace & Justice Action organization said they hope to re-create the commotion that 350 to 500 demonstrators made when President Bush spoke at the Riverside Convention Center in October.
Organizer Dick Morris said that the antiwar group has seen more cooperation from other organizations, including local Democrats and Latino groups and is confident of drawing larger crowds. However, he said that with hot weather forecasted, planners are unsure how many to expect...

Can Jones beat Boxer?
Looks like plans changed a little. My information was:
Riverside rally at 3:30 or 3:45.
I drove out to Ontario today, but the rally there was
canceled. Apparently Cheney got right into his motorcade
and left for Riverside -- I heard there was a security
concern at Ontario. True?
Does anyone know? And how was the Riverside event?

This FReep started out for ME with a call on my cell phone from Andrea (with the Riverside College Republicans) at about 4 pm.I was stuck in traffic on the 91 freeway, as it turns out, still about an hour away. She said that there were already over FIFTY Bush-Cheney supporters in place, but that the TEN or so "bad guys" were attempting to disrupt their rally, and she wanted to know what to do.This was her first FReep as an ORGANIZER, and she was concerned.(to be continued...)CLICK HERE for the rest of that thread
