Shriver returns to Democratic roots as first lady to GOP governor

(07-26) 17:52 PDT BOSTON (AP) -- As first lady of California, Maria Shriver spends most days traveling the state as an advocate for her husband, GOP governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. But this week, Shriver has returned to her roots as a Kennedy, attending the Democratic National Convention in the city where her family's storied political rise began.

Against a backdrop of music, laughter and prayer Monday, the 48-year-old Shriver joined more than 100 other family members at the dedication of the Rose Kennedy Greenway, a downtown park named for late Kennedy matriarch Rose Kennedy, whose daughter, Eunice Shriver, is Maria Shriver's mother.

"It's great, I feel very honored to be here," Maria Shriver said, exuding California chic in a pink sleeveless dress and spiked heels. "It feels very comfortable."

Shriver came to Boston accompanied by her four children. Back in California, her famous husband worked on resolving a budget battle with a heavily Democratic state legislature, and his absence was noted by at least one sympathetic guest. "I said to Maria, 'I'm glad you're here representing the governor,"' deadpanned Mitt Romney, the Republican governor of Massachusetts.

.... Shriver mingled and chatted with other guests, including former California Gov. Gray Davis, who was vanquished by Schwarzenegger in last fall's recall election. Rob Stutzman, Schwarzenegger's communications director, said Schwarzenegger's political fortunes hadn't factored into Shriver's plans to go to Boston. "She didn't ask us what we thought and she shouldn't," Stutzman said. "She's a Shriver and part of the Kennedy family, the greatest Democrat party dynasty this country has ever seen. It's where she should be."

..."It's a rare opportunity indeed that I have the chance to introduce a Republican governor and have such good things to say," Ted Kennedy cracked. Kennedy's son, Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., said that, jokes aside, the family had nothing but praise for Schwarzenegger

accompanied by her four children

Well I guess we know who wears the pants in the Schwarzenegger family...
"and I'm taking the kids with me too!"
"Yes, Maria dear, whatever you say, dear!"
The wife has zero loyalty to her husband. What an embarrassment!

So much for Ahnold's "girlie man" comments...

LMAO

Bwahahahahahaha!!! There are more Kennedys indicted than there are empty shot glasses in Teddy's hotel room!

From Honey Fitz' gangster background which bought and paid for the first election to Mary Jo Kopechnick (sp?) -- they are all in jail or dead young. When Teddy finally is too drunk to get up in the morning to get his pre-stamped election by the Massechussets dead that will be the end of this besotted, accursed "dynasty."

There have already been more Bush presidents than Kennedy presidents -- with maybe 2 more on the way. It reminds me of House Atreades (Bush) and House Harkonen (Kennedy) in the beginning of "Dune."
