Couldn't have said it better myself...Now if only Byrd could get some momentum and become a serious contender!
Martinez is perfectly content running on his conservative record.
It is the candidates who are most threatened by his surge in the polls (Byrd, McCollum) who are doing all the attacking.
Uh, Billy Boy. Just because a candidate happens to be Hispanic, doesn't mean they support liberal immigration policies.
In fact, Martinez has spoken out publicly against the President's amnesty program for illegals.
If you can find a quote that shows him expressing a contrary opinion, I challenge you to post it on this website.
(And this time, don't make up your own "AP story")
Good luck! :)
Wow, that is painfully poignant and just. Keep up the good fight billyboy.
Well, well, well... looks like your guy Mel is the now being tapped for RNC chairman solely because he's the principle author of the Martinez-Hagel amnesty "compromise" and can put a happy face on Bush's ammensy deal.
How would you like your crow served?
And, NO, I didn't assume Martinez was LYING about being "against amnesty" because he was Hispanic, I assumed he was LYING because he's a liberal trail lawyer turned conservative Republican opportunist who was hand-picked by Dubya for this job after spending three years in his cabinent rubber-stamping his policies.
Hope all the freepers who voted for Mel "I'm against amnesty" Martinez will be pleased your new medocire Senator will be RNC chair.
"Our immigration policy should first and foremost ensure the security of our great Nation and those individuals posing a terrorist threat should be prevented from entering our country. That's why I strongly oppose amnesty for illegal aliens. Our immigration laws should not reward lawlessness."
-- Mel Martinez, Florida Senate Debate, Oct 24, 2004
"Border security only, enforcement only -- harshness only, is not the message that I believe America wants to convey...The purpose of the path to citizenship is to bring people into the sunshine of American life"
-- Mel Martinez, Associated Press Interview, November 15, 2006
Yes, Mel, say whatever it takes to get power. John Skerry has taught you well.
