Lance owns France!!...
Shaking Head, ciao Jacques....L~
You'll note that I never suggested you should adopt him as a personal hero. But if you intend to bash him you might first familiarize yourself with some basic facts regarding his life...
Can someone now tell all these guys in tights to get their bicycles out of the streets, and stay out of traffic before they end up under someones wheels....
It's part of the blame-the-man attitude that pervades the culture.
OK! Once and for all: I am sorry for "bashing" Lance Armstrong! Does that do it? I was joking, can't you tell?
I was kidding about the "hero list". I have not one sports hero. I don't even have a favorite sports figure that I admire all that much. You see, I'm not a sports fan in any way, shape or form of any sport... Well, I do like to watch women's figure skating from time to time...
Bottom line: I was wrong to comment about Lance Armstrong. First, because I don't know him, and second, because I couldn't care less about him or what he is or does. That was wrong of me and I admit it.
I agree. He should have devoted more time to his personal life. I am still glad he beat those miserable stinky French and German s.o.b.s
Sorry - I thought your last post was sarcasm...No offense intended!
I have not been a big fan of Armstrong ever since he left his wife and who stuck by him through all the really tough times and impending death...
Frankly, I can no longer stand him for those and other reasons.
Remember his whining about how the pending war in Iraq would affect his little cycle race in France?
Yep. What a guy.
Tell me about it. Like matter and antimatter, black Spandex and a butt the size of the Galapagos Islands should NEVER go together.
I don't remember that, and I follow cycling pretty closely. Can you point me to a cite? Thanks...
"...In my opinion it's not really the place of an athlete to take a position here. And I do think there should be a strong delineation from sports, war, diplomacy, and politics. I am getting asked this question repeatedly over here because a) I'm an American like the President, b) I'm a Texan like the President, and c) I am a friend of the President's. The war seems to be very unpopular here (lots and lots of protests) and it's normal that the press tries to get a quote regarding this. "What I will say, and have said many times, is that NOBODY wants a war. Not me. Not President Bush. Not Tony Blair. No one... but sometimes it may be unavoidable. I absolutely support the President and absolutely support our troops."
Doesn't sound that bad to me.
BUMP for truth - GO LANCE! SCREW FRANCE!
To some people on the Lance threads, he can do no wrong...
..and if folks like you & me have other opinions, we might as well fold our tents and steal away.
Just save your breath.....they will not tolerate any other opinion.
They know all the facts and we must have made everything up about Lance the Hero
I can only say this because it is fresh in my memory....I was pounced on yesterday by, at least, 3 LanceFans..
I understand. That's why I said "priorities." You know, he could have been satisfied with 2-3 of the things---he would have known he was the best ever---and still had a family. Usually, when this happens to someone in business, people say, "What a cad! What a jerk." But when it's athletes who are very successful (Herb Brooks was another from what I understand), people overlook it.
Sorry, but I'm not going to justify poor treatment of one's wife and kids just because one is successful in sports or business. Jesus called us to be excellent in all things, but the hierarchy is always God, family, then whatever. Lombardi had that right.
I never heard that about Brooks, although given what I do know that sounds believable. I often wonder in my own job (I work for a big corporation) at what point would I say I'm satisfied and don't want to move up, because moving up will put too great a strain on my family.
I guess people come down on different sides of the issue. Some would prefer Director w/ a family to Sr. VP without; evidently Lance wanted (at least) 6 TDF wins regardless of family.
God Bless Lance, and God Bless Texas. I hope to be back in Texas as soon as possible.
looks like 2004 is going to be a bad year for girlie-men...
Refrain from posting demonstrably false statements and perhaps your reception will be a bit warmer...
Don't women ever bear any responsibility in divorces? Don't they ever do anything wrong? Is the man always 100% at fault? She knew who he was, what he did, and how he did it when she said "I Do".
