I would never trust a verbal agreement about anything potentially worth over $1,000. For a sperm donor agreement, I would require a notorized contract.

A verbal agreement isn't worth the paper it's written on.

I would give credit to the owner of this comment, but I don't remember who it is-I'm thinking Leo Derochia. Adding insult to injury, I probably mispelled his name too.

From the comments of the judges, it sounds like they might have ruled this way whether or not there was a signed contract. It does appear as if the sperm donor had a verbal contract which the egg receptacle later denied.
