'NO-SHOW JOHN' BURNS BEANTOWN
New York Post ^ | July 25, 2004 | Howie Carr

July 25, 2004 -- BOSTON

So far, John Kerry has been an onlooker at his own convention.

Every day last week, the already- dark mood of his hometown grew surlier, as the extent of the convention's massive disruptions of daily life became ever more apparent. But the man who would lead the Free World essentially went MIA.

He spent several days in serene splendor at the $10-million oceanfront mansion on Nantucket that his second wife inherited from her first husband. The senator windsurfed by day and hobnobbed with the Beautiful People by night, pedaling his $8,000 Serotta bicycle into the village for dinner at one or another of the island's fancy restaurants.

Meanwhile, in the sweltering city, the heavy lifting of actually averting total chaos was left to two local pols — Boston's Democratic Mayor Thomas Menino and GOP Gov. Mitt Romney.

Hold on, let me get this straight....

He showed up at a fancy Nantucket restaurant dressed like this:

They've scheduled a special concert of the Boston Pops to "thank" the city, but their initial plans ran into trouble when the first organizer quit, claiming he couldn't get anyone in the campaign to pony up the necessary funds.

Last I heard about that "thank you" concert, it wasn't going to be for the hoi polloi -- just bigwigs with passes. The party of the working man strikes again!

From the Drudge story on the hassles the owner of the pizzeria is getting: BATTLE OVER PRO-BUSH SIGN AT BOSTON PIZZERIA

On Friday, WRKO-AM's Peter Blute and Scott Allen Miller reported how Pasquale has been confronted by city inspectors who have threatened to fine him unless he takes the anti-Dem sign down!

Seems to me Scotto was trying to drum up support to pay the owner's fines!

Thanks. The tag line "Ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem" is the official Massachusetts state motto originating from the days of the Revolution. Translated from Latin it means roughly "By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty" Just goes to show how lost Massachusetts has become. John Kerry would have peace by surrendering the sword.

That would the 800 million dollar 'rat white elephant called the Convention Center that has yet to sign a big booking.

That would indeed be it! But's it's not a total waste -- one night this week (Tuesday?), one of Hillary's rich supporters is hosting a party for her there.

***Can you imagine if the Republicans had people cancel their cancer treatments and told pregnant women to choose another hospital out of town to deliver their babies!!! The liberal news would be all over it! You know, "Those Evil Republicans"!!!!***

As the mother of three children, I am DISGUSTED that the liberals would expect a pregnant woman to find a hospital out in the suburbs. Can you just imagine the confusion, lack of space in the hospitals, and the doctors scurrying around trying to help everyone?

And as the mother of a son who has had ten years of cancer treatments, I have no words strong enough for anyone who would say they have to postpone cancer treatments. Kerry is no leader. He is a DESTROYER.

***Jacques Ketchup has never been one for heavy lifting. He ducked out of Vietnam after four months; he'd likely leave the White House, too, if there were any real work to do.***

Old Frenchie never wasted any time doing Senate work, did he? Heck, if he were in the White House and there was work to do, he'd just have his Vice President sue the culprits who caused the work.

With a dead end sign on it.

<< LOL. That cage resembles the pens put up in England to rein in Soccer Hooligans. >>

Same [East-coast establishment's Euro-peon "huddled-masses"] mentality.

There will most probably a "staged" fight or something. I hope that none of our people will be drawn into it.

Pregnant women have been told to find suburban hospitals for their deliveries. Chemotherapy and radiation treatments have been canceled, along with all elective surgery.

Unconscionable.

I am sure the cages will probably be used in New York City next month.

I don't think so --- what makes you think that?

Jacques Ketchup has never been one for heavy lifting. He ducked out of Vietnam after four months; he'd likely leave the White House, too, if there were any real work to do.

That statement right there very neatly sums up exactly what the Kerry Administration will be if he wins in November. There's a very good reason why his campaign is now staffed with nothing but Clintonoids, and all his political appointments will be the same tired recycled Clinton hacks. These poeple, with Bill in the background pulling the strings, will be the real power in the Kerry White House.

And John Kerry will like that just fine. He doesn't really want to be president - all he wants is the prestige and the perks and the ego-massage that come with the office. He'd be perfectly happy spending his entire term jet-setting around the world with Teresa, attending state dinners in Paris and UN summits in posh resorts around the world, posing for glamor shots and creating his own vision of Camelot. And when there aren't any of these events around, he'll be in Hyannisport or at any one of Teresa's other palaces showing the world what a stud he is.

The grubby little day-to-day details of the job, the wheeling and the dealing with the Hill, the wrangling over the budgets and the grip-and-grins with Miss Florida Orange Juice will be handled by "lesser people" than America's new royal family, only to be noticed by His Highness when it's time to appear before his subjects on TV. And while Bill's and Hillary's first choice would not be to be the power behind the throne, they'll take it for now while they wait their turn to ascend the throne.

And to think the media harped constantly about Ronald Reagan being the ventriloquist's dummy of his handlers, and say the same thing about George W. Bush.

The major commuter-rail station closed Friday night. Many subway commuters will be dumped onto buses, which will then head out into utter gridlock. Traffic helicopters are grounded. Even the commuter boats have been ordered to halt their runs. Pregnant women have been told to find suburban hospitals for their deliveries. Chemotherapy and radiation treatments have been canceled, along with all elective surgery. One newspaper asked restaurant managers how they expected to fare during the four days of the convention. Most were pessimistic

Who needs a terror attack? We got the Rats.
