July 25, 2004 -- BOSTON
So far, John Kerry has been an onlooker at his own convention.
Every day last week, the already- dark mood of his hometown grew surlier, as the extent of the convention's massive disruptions of daily life became ever more apparent. But the man who would lead the Free World essentially went MIA.
He spent several days in serene splendor at the $10-million oceanfront mansion on Nantucket that his second wife inherited from her first husband. The senator windsurfed by day and hobnobbed with the Beautiful People by night, pedaling his $8,000 Serotta bicycle into the village for dinner at one or another of the island's fancy restaurants.
Meanwhile, in the sweltering city, the heavy lifting of actually averting total chaos was left to two local pols Boston's Democratic Mayor Thomas Menino and GOP Gov. Mitt Romney.

His 5 months on the big shipot at sea, then they shipped him off for Swift boat school, then he comes back for 4 months and gets those baby boo, boos. My C-section scar is 1000 times bigger than all 3 of this baby boo, boos put together. He did a few months off the coast aboard USS Gridley(DLG-21, now CG-21). We didn't call them tours; we called them cruises.
He certainly wouldn't have done any shore-bom with Gridley's 3" guns but he probably received a CAR for being in a combat area. Referring to 2 tours plays up the 'war hero' image. Most of us veterans know how phony that is and more are learning every day.

I heard that Mitt tried to get them to move the venue to a place that would cause less disruption but the dems wouldn't hear of it.That would the 800 million dollar 'rat white elephant called the Convention Center that has yet to sign a big booking.

"There are a lot of hard feelings over the RATS
convention, and that's putting it mildly."
Will it make any difference? No. Like the Black democrats who realize they are merely tools of their democrat Massah's, Boston's flunkies and scullery maids will nevertheless shuffle up to the voting booth and pull the kerry lever no matter what.

He was having a hard time maneuvering it in ...What does this say about the ship handling skills of the most famous Swift Boat commander in the war? Let's see, where are those FITREPs again?

Tomorrow is our 35th Anniversary and without thinking my husband had planned to take me into Boston overnight and out to the North End for dinner. Well that's not going to happen.

Sounds like a job for the servants at some French aristocrat's estate.

I just saw the DNC Chairman on FNC, He said "we are proud of Kerry's 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. WHAT??
Typical Dem typo....that's Hours, not Tours.

Mitt Romney. And of course now, from what I've been reading, Menino's time is tied up with trying to run a pizza shop owner out of business because he has the unmitigated gall to place a pro-Bush sign on the front of his shop.

I doubt there will be many protesters. Why waist time when no one will see you. I am sure the cages will probably be used in New York City next month. I am glad the Democrats are going first. If we had put people in cages first think of the fun the news organizations would have had with this subject.

Well, Tuhrayza did say if she had her choice of being an animal, she'd be a dog.

If the GOP was causing this much misery and was this out of touch, it would lead every media newscast and front page in the country.

Jacques Ketchup has never been one for heavy lifting. He ducked out of Vietnam after four months; he'd likely leave the White House, too, if there were any real work to do.

"If they ever name a street after Kerry," said one of the mayor's allies at City Hall, "it'll have to be one-way." Oh this is hilarious! This coming from his own team! L0L

It was kismet!

This line is my favorite:
Menino did not appreciate being hung out to dry by his ostensible ally. "If they ever name a street after Kerry," said one of the mayor's allies at City Hall, "it'll have to be one-way."
