I don't know how many of you read this story in "The Post", or heard about on the local news, but The Straphangers Campaign has just released its annual "State of the Subways" report.
According to this article, the report "ranks each line based on what a $2 ride is really worth...based on Transit Authority data from the last six months of 2003."
Not surprisingly, the two trains that I use most frequently while doing interborough or intraborough commuting, the R and N train, are assigned the lowest ranking in this survey. A ride on each train is worth ninety and eighty cents, respectively.
Nope. I am into Ironic Sarcasm myself.
I usually took a bus to the Port Authority Bus Terminal or a train to Penn Station, then I got on the 2/3 express train down to 14th street, and switched to the 1/9 local train down to South Ferry when I went to work-related meetings in a building down at Bowling Green a few years ago.
The Lexington Av. Lines 4, 5, and 6 are so crowded that I'd sure like to see the MTA build the Second Avenue subway.
Manhattan? BOO! JEER! HISS!
Seriously, I guess building a 2nd Avenue subway line is a good idea for people who live in and around Manhattan, though I can understand-being from Kings County myself-the argument against diverting yet more funds for mass transit to a borough which already has many transportation alternatives that can be utilized by its residents.
I remember how fierce the battle got when that transportation bond issue was on the ballot a few years ago.
Even though Ken Fisher campaigned vigorously against the measure-and probably had more to do with its defeat than any other elected official-he still came in dead last in the borough president's race.
Go figure!
Rhonda, what's that weird guy doing with his pockets?(!)
Shouldn't his hands be holding onto the pole?
Rut-roh! I thought it was a girl. :^O
Hillary Clinton? Isn't she dat Cubs fan who lives in Ark n'saw? I never saw dat ark. Why da heck is it in a saw anyways?
