A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos) - 7.23.04
White House, Yahoo

Posted on 07/23/2004 5:50:18 PM PDT by MJY1288

Today President Bush spoke to the National Urban League Conference in Detroit Michigan. He detailed his administrations progress since becoming the President and asked for their vote. President Bush ask the group if the Democrats took the African American vote for granted and ask them to compare his record since becoming president to what the Democrats have done for them. The speech was well recieved and IMHO it was a homerun

Why did Sharpton have to say something negative after sitting and smiling in the man's face? Because Sharpton's whole career and power depends on there being a black underclass. If all black people were affluent and fully emancipated, Sharpton would be out of a job or would have to compete as a politician on other issues.

Al Sharpton doesn't have a job, he claims to be a Reverend, but has anybody been to his Church?

First, I commend you for your stamina in watching part of a Kerry "rally."

Secret Service question: From your observation, did it look like the crowd was interacting physically in any measure that is close to the way crowds interact with W? I'm really curious about the reason for the difference in the SS interaction with Kerry -- and wonder if it's because the crowds aren't as close and therefore, as potentially threatening, or if maybe Kerry has told them to keep their hands just barely there. (I do not mention, of course, that the SS might potentially have a gag reflex thing going. These are REAL MEN who do their duty, no matter how appalling it is.)

Have you ever heard Al Sharpton ever quote the bible or promote any of the good books teachings?

The sooner people ignore people like Jesse and Al, the better off the black community will be. You said it a lot better than I.

Another cool excerpt from the twins' Q&A:

Andrea Toth from Canoga Park CA wrote:
What foreign leaders or diginitaries have you met?

Barbara and Jenna Bush answered:
Yes, Andrea, and that is definitely one of the best things about being the daughters of a President. We have both gotten to meet some extremely intelligent, interesting people. We both met former President of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Havel, and felt extremely inspired and moved. He is a man who was imprisoned for fighting communism and was the first President of the Czech Republic. He also is an amazing author and playwright and he loves the Rolling Stones! We have also met Tony Blair of Great Britain and Vladimir Putin of Russia - in addition to being highly intelligent and amazing leaders, they both have a great sense of humor!

Okay, one last one -- the twins will be at the Olympics in Greece:

craig mordock from new orleans LA wrote:
Jenna, did you like Spain? Do you plan to visit any other foreign countries in the near future?

Barbara and Jenna Bush answered:
Craig, this is Jenna. I will answer this one and am so glad you asked because I love Spain and could probably talk about it for hours. I lived and did a study abroad program in Cádiz, Spain (a beautiful beach town in Andalucia) when I was sixteen and fell in love with the Spanish culture. I love the relaxed atmosphere and attitude that everyone has; I love the amazing tapas and beautiful flamenco music. Okay, I am feeling very nostalgic for Spain. Barbara and I both love to travel and we are so lucky to have had the opportunity to see so many places, both in the United States and abroad. We are going in a couple weeks with the American delegation to the Olympics in Greece and are so excited. But, that will be our last trip overseas for a while, because we will be working for our dad until November!

Sharpton preaches as a guest in other churches once in a while. I listed to one of his sermons on TV. He does not have ajob , he just shakes down people.

Just finished watching the re-play of the President's speech to the Urban League. . . another rhetorical HOMERUN!

The President unapologetically and PASSIONATELY shared his conservative message with a skeptical (yet receptive) audience -- the 'question' section of the speech was pure political genius (and courage)! KUDOS PRESIDENT BUSH!!!

[All we need is another 2-4% of the Black vote in November -- this speech, and others like it over the next several months, will help the President achieve this goal!]

did it look like the crowd was interacting physically in any measure that is close to the way crowds interact with W?

No, the crowd wasn't anything like the crowds around W. They were mainly standing there with just a few hands even reaching for him to shake hands. It was very low key. Much smaller crowd from what I saw than anything W ever gets.

I was surprised to see that it was a "rally", it looked like maybe a speech to a small group.

Kerry kept doing that retarded looking fist in the air thing, but he was the only one that seemed wound up. It didn't match the demeanor of the crowd in my opinion. He looked silly to me. For no real reason (that I could see) he just kept pumping that fist in the air.

As far as the Secret Service guys, Kerry definitely didn't need the same degree of vigilance because of the very controlled crowd, but you know how the President's guys LOOK concerned all the time and how they are always watching the crowd very closely?

Well, the agent with Kerry was pinching a little bit of Kerry's shirt, not even touching Kerry's body. He wasn't even grabbing it with his entire hand. Just a few fingers. Plus he was looking off in the distance a couple of times. Just briefly, but he did do it. Then, Kerry went up on the stage to leave and the agents were not right with him. In fact, I didn't see them at all.

I know those guys are very professional and they wouldn't do anything to put Kerry at risk. Never.

But President Bush's detail looks like they truly have a personal affection for him, even noticeable in their extreme diligence and facial expressions. Kerry's detail looked bored to me.

That was my impression of it anyway.

The Twins' 'virtual chat' was GREAT wasn't it?!

For those who haven't read the 'chat' transcript yet, you can find it at the following URL: http://www.georgewbush.com/chat/LiveChat.aspx?ID=19

I FINALLY FOUND A COPY OF THE VOGUE MAGAZINE FEATURING THE BUSH TWINS TODAY -- believe it or not, I found it at Krogers (my local Borders and Barnes&Nobles still don't have it!)
