they are treating a real but apparently limited case of misconduct as an opportunity to misuse congressional oversight powers to wage partisan warfare.

spin, spin, spin, spin
Misconduct??????? Partisan this: It was theft from the National Archives that dealt with NATIONAL SECURITY.

I think he'll walk.

Clintonistas have been functionally above the law all long. I have no reason to believe this time will be any different. I think he'll walk, or receive some token punishment so insignificant as to be the near equivalent.

Of course as has been said here dozens of times already, if it was Condy who had done this there would be 24/7 screaming for blood.

Yes to the later, and a no to maybe on a slap on the wrist.

Sandy Berger admitted to the purloinment, unlike Clinton and others.

There are eye witnesses.

Hubbel went to jail.

And it all depends on who the judge in the case will be.Clinton is NOT the president;which makes a rather LARGE difference and yet another very good reason why we ALL have to get out there and help to re-elect President Bush.

Anyone who has been given clearance knows you do not make mistakes with sensitive data. This man was the NSA. He knew he was not making a mistake when he put documents in his clothing to conceal them. This is no laughing matter. This was not an inadvertent absentminded act.

Right, partisan warfare, much like the Democrats waged against Nixon, who only covered up a break in at a campaign headquarters, not a top security reading room.

The Clintons have now committed every single crime that Hillary once accused Richard Nixon of committing. I guess she really idolized the man.

Amazing the Compost which created the mythical Deepthroat to make a third rate breakin such an outrage, Nixon had to resign.

Now we have admitted acts of treason at the highest level by one of their girly boys, and the Compost is mad at the FBI.

What I find amazing is how many Freepers still love the Compost and call it a good newspaper.

Well, aside from your evincing being very nearly an absolute moron, how's your life going, boy? I can easily deal with a sack of hammers, but you're quite pushing the envelope. Halliburton received MORE, in terms of total dollars, no-bid contracts during Bubba's administration than during the present administration.

In any case, you dipwad bozo, A) Since when is it some sort of sin to ''sell goods and services to energy companies'', except of course if one happens to be a little Marxist jerkoff like you, B) Speaking from multiple personal experiences, any person's security clearances are REVOKED, automatically, you effing moron, when that person ceases to work for the United States, whether due to termination of contract or from a change in administration. In short, Mr. Berger had NO, zero, nada, valid clearances in October of last year, and something is wildly wrong that he was even let into the allegedly ''secured'' section of the National Archives. If there has ever been an exception to this rule, I'm unaware of it, and you will need to cite the person and the date AND the particular level of clearance to the contrary before I'll even sniff your ass on this subject, and C) Nobody, not even a moron like you, does something ''inadvertently'' five separate times, while being completely filmed on videotape.

Berger's a felon, and, instead of even asking to uphold some sort of rule of law and putting this arrogant clown in the graybar hotel for his absolutely undeniable felony, you incoherently try to change the subject to Mr. Cheney's former business associations.

You should have been on the OJ Simpson jury; your inability regarding mental processes would have made you a perfect fit there.

Not that I'm persuaded at all that you CAN learn, but anything not provably impossible is, by definition, possible. Ask yourself (if you've the wit, which proposition I'd be very pleased to lay 2-to-5 against) the same question that Marcus Tullius Cicro asked roughly 2070 years ago: Cui bono?

Who benefits from this document theft and destruction?

Oh, can't quite figure it out, eh?

Not surprising. Had you pegged correctly right from the get-go. Go practice attempting to propel certain renal by-products vertically along a section of woven hemp.

John, I rather expect to see the re-emergence of the saber-toothed tiger before seeing any sort of emergence of journalistic ''ethics''. Be honest; you share this view.

I just checked his comments in forum - I think he was being sarcastic.

Thank you for the kind thought.

I very rarely ''lose it'', but, when I see this kind of absolute bilge, well, I confess...I **LOSE** it!

This chap's just very, VERY lucky that I'm not suffering from terminal cancer (I'm quite sure you take my point here, true? (w!))

OK, if I'm wrong I'm wrong, and not too proud to admit it. Please clarify the notion of ''his comments in forum''.

Always happy to learn, and best wishes to you!

Well, I was surprised by his vile comment, checked how long he'd been on FR and it was since '98 or '99. So I clicked his profile page and "in forum" for his comments.

They all seemed rational, except this one. So I thought maybe he's being sarcastic.

If he isn't, he deserves your riposte!

(I think that's the right word...)

I'll have to keep my eyes open for your comments!..;-)

Unknown at this time. If sarcasm was involved, he fooled me thoroughly. Usually, to my observation (but I've only been here a couple-three years), posters who intend sarcasm make it VERY clear (for one reason to avoid being flamed).

After all, we've both seen /sarcasmoff, or an equivalent construct, some hundreds of times, true?

OK I get it. It's Cheney's fault. Cheney was carried in strapped to Berger's leg so he could stuff the docs in the socks. Probably used rubber bands stolen from his office at Haliburton to hold the stolen papers to Berger's leg.

"... one that sold goods and services to energy companies"

... for that Cheney should surely be in jail, right. On the other hand, we know most dims don't work, so I guess that is why you hate Cheney.

Do you ever read what you write or is it just spewed out and you never look back. Your posts are a little, shall we say. Moore-on-ic

Hey play a little game. Suppose Condoleezza Rice did what Berger did. Now post what you think should be done to her. Don't you hate it when that happens.

Stealing TS docs is a felony. Big time.

Actually, what I'd like to see is journalists who unabashedly write whatever they choose. I've read most of the surviving newspapers from the era when the First Amendment was drafted and ratified. They were opinionated, vigorous, and colorful. You had no doubt where anyone stood. It was very much like the tabloid newspapers today. LOL.

The ComPost runs the DNC talking points a day later. These have been re-worked a bit, I guess they studied the ones from yesterday and tweaked them a bit.
