Abortion clinic objects to planned childcare centre [Clients upset by live kids]

A PERTH abortion clinic objected to plans for a childcare centre on a neighbouring property because the sight of children might upset its patients.

Marie Stopes International Australia, which operates the clinic in the eastern suburb of Midland, objected to the development of the childcare centre on an adjoining block.

In an objection lodged with the City of Swan, the clinic operators said the sight and sound of children playing in a neighbouring property might cause emotional strain for women considering terminating a pregnancy.

It also said right-to-life proponents who staged weekly protests outside the clinic might upset the children.

"The main reason (for the objection) was that their clients would be hopping out of their car to enter the back door of the clinic and would hear the voices of children and I guess they felt that was going to emotionally upset them," City of Swan Mayor Charlie Gregorini said today.

The carpark at the rear of the clinic would share a fence with the proposed childcare centre. The planned children's play area would abut the common fence.

Mr Gregorini said it was an unusual objection for council to address.

"But I could see the argument from all sides," he said.

"It would be an emotional situation for someone who's decided to have an abortion and then the last thing they hear before they enter the clinic is the happy voices of children."

But the application had met all planning requirements and council was likely to approve it tomorrow, Mr Gregorini said.

A development decision could not be made on moral or emotional grounds, he said.

A mediation meeting between the childcare centre developers and a representative of Marie Stopes International Australia organised by the council last week had resolved the objection through a condition that a two-metre brick fence be erected between the properties.

"They are now very happy to be neighbours," Mr Gregorini said.

sounds fair enough to me. as a matter of fact, lets surround abortion clinics with day care centers. let them know what they are killing.

In Bloomfield Hills, there used to be a Woman Care abortion clinic right next to a Sign of the Beefcarver.

Why? It's not as if they are terminating a living human being, is it? /sarcasm

How worried do you suppose they are that their clients, two years down the road, will be emotionally strained by the sound of no children laughing?

Oh, yes! It's always 'for the children.'

Perhaps the clinic is afraid of losing paying customers if abortion patients change their minds after seeing and hearing the sounds of children :)

They're not afraid--they're terrified the idea might catch on, I bet.

...the clinic operators said the sight and sound of children playing in a neighbouring property might cause emotional strain for women considering terminating a pregnancy...and added "We don't want you driving by our factory with kids in the car either! Keep you damn kids home behind shuttered windows, and don't let us see them at all! When kerry gets elected, see what happens...you won't have any of those little post-abortion pieces of tissue anymore! And after that, we'll make sure you yourselves will be liqui...."...."because we're going to take things away from you for well being of the...."

Yes indeed, "the clinic is afraid of losing paying customers if abortion patients change their minds after seeing and hearing the sounds of children"

And if the customers hear the laughing of children and see mothers still able to work and have a career it could be real bad for business --- the customers are told that a baby will utterly destroy their lives, they'll never be able to work or be happy.

Nothing like an empty swing set creaking in the wind to drive home the point!

I thought it was a choice not a child so why would laughing children make someone uncomfortable?

Its all about money for the abortuaries. Seeing beautiful children might produce some infrmed consent and cut into prfits.

Right, it should be mandatory. They're not "terminating a pregnancy", they're killing their own children.

Oh brother, now I've heard it all.

Of course, I do wonder how upsetting it would be for the children if they know that babies are being abortion next door. Children are naturally pro-Life.
