Archives Employees Suspicious of Berger... devised a coding system and marked the documents they knew Berger was interested in canvassing, and watched him carefully... employees determined that that draft and all four or five other versions of the millennium memo had disappeared from the files after Berger viewed them, WASH POST set to report, say sources... Developing...
The man could barely talk, he was so frightened. This guy is going to crumble like a fresh coffeecake. But he better hope nothing happens to him - and don't go on any plane rides.
Or, to nuke Kerrry so she is clear for takeoff in 2008.
And the real irony is, the Rats' laughably inept attempts at spinning this story are as responsible for this story blowing up as anything else is. Even with all the mulligans and do-overs that the media is giving them (Tom Brokaw with Kerry immediately jumps to mind) they still can't make their lies sound even remotely plausible. And that really leaves the media with no choice but to pursue the story aggressively.
I have never seen the Rats so shambling and clueless as they are now, and that tells me they are literally pissing their pants in abject terror. Terry McAwful's mind-boggling FOIA request has to rank right at the top of the list of Transparently Obvious Desperation Plays of All Time.
I saw it; he was rattled.
I can't imagine how such information could elude a candidate for president when one of his advisors is under suspicion.
I don't like Kerry and the disgusting "blame America" element that has aligned with him. The partisan in me welcomes the idea that Kerry would willingly assimilate for personal gain the purloined intel that Berger would have to share. OTOH, my idealistic side wants to believe that he didn't know. I will try to withold judgement as long as I can.
There has to be a piece missing to this story. This still is not making sense.
Great observation! This needs to be featured on a Bush-Cheney campaign ad. I should have a right to ask, I have paid for lots of 'em.
The WaPo article is linked up at #158.
The timeline is gone over again.
The October visit was when the employees took care to watch Berger after detecting missing documents during a September Berger visit.
When, according to the article, Archives employees then contacted Berger at his home about the missing documents in October, Berger "found" some and returned them. Archive employees (plural) came to Berger's house the very next morning (a Sunday morning) to retrieve the items.
Berger retained Breuer and then "found" 40-50 pages of notes which he had taken starting that July (THIS is where Breuer pulled his "this is a year old already" talking point from), which he then turned over. By then, the Archives notified them there were still more missing documents.
The article reports, as had been stated before, that the FBI was brought in in January.
I have been thinking there is much more than the several versions of that draft document. There are probably several issues that needed "scrubbing".
Why the hell didn't they just have him arrested? They waited as he did this 5 times or so? Crazy.
Maybe setting him up....listening in on phone call....tapping computer...IOW trying to catch a bigger fish.
Just because you E-mail with Aaron Brown (BFD...NOT!)doesn't place you on the "inside" of much of anything at all.
FYI,the FBI hasn't given in to Sandy's/Bruce Lindsay's games. And it's only now,NOW,that they are even trying to cop a plea deal of some sort. This is bigger than just Sandy Berger and ALL of the Clintonista/MSM spin machines put together, aren't going to do diddley-squat.
Yeah, and Martha Stewart still thinks that she's gonna get off too. RORFLOL
I agree with your take on this, completely.
Observed taking documents on multiple occasions. Glancing about nervously as he stuffed documents in his clothing. Multiple witnesses. He's toast and he knows it.
Yes,you are,of course, quite right to add "lame" to spinning. :-)
It's different. Bush is president now and there will be no stock market slide if clinton goes down.
Or just afraid. Did you hear that the FIRST person they called was his lawyer? NOt the police or FBI. Still, that doesn't make sense either... If so, why would he keep coming back and taking more papers? It points up that the security in that center was indefensibly poor...
I don't think any of those classified copies of those classified documents were destroyed. Those are the ones with the notes in the margins made by the recipients, right? Like for instance the Clintons? I'd bet that his attorneys have them stashed in a very safe place in a very large bank to ensure that Berger lives through the investigation and any cooperating that he does.
And I think he wanted to get caught--if somebody forced me to hold up a bank, my only chance for safety would be to get myself arrested, right?
Yes and I'm wondering if they might have video of him doing it too? They did specially mark some of the papers because they suspected him.
O.K.
Here it is........IMO.....
Berger was 'planting' papers 'into' the Archives.....again and again!
:-(
