A good move IMHO. The "million mommies" against the "right to defend" soccer moms. Interesting.

The roots of gun control are racist, so I applaud the move. White men are a shrinking demographic in America and in order to secure the Second Amendment for posterity, we have to bring minorities on board. That will make it harder for the libs to stereotype gun owners as a bunch of rednecks driving a pickup truck with a Confederate Flag painted on the roof.

Not the first woman in senior NRA positions, actually. Tanya Metaksa was Executive Director in the mid-90's.
To: Billthedrill
True. She's the NRA's first woman President. The gun rights group's answer to the Million Mom gun banners.

I was hoping a woman would be picked. Good move. I'm a female NRA member and this is a good move to show women own firearms and care about their 2nd amendment rights. I don't think she is black.

Actually, Kayne Robinson took over Presidency from Charlton Heston last spring. Froman will be an excellant choice to replace him.

Marion Hammer was first woman to be NRA President in 1996.

Actually, it was late 1995-after sitting NRA President Tom Washington had a heart attack while deer hunting. She had been slated to take office in spring of '96.

Not exactly - but then she's not a man, either.

Good. Maybe this will get more women to join the NRA and more to start carrying guns on a daily basis.

stereotype gun owners as a bunch of rednecks driving a pickup truck with a Confederate Flag painted on the roof. Actually, folks like me usually opt for Rebel Flag bumperstickers or front tags. I have never seen anyone outside of the Dukes of Hazzard with a painted roof Rebel Flag.
