Sometimes a political figure becomes so hated that he can't do anything right in the eyes of his enemies. President Bush has achieved this rare and exalted status. His critics are so blinded by animus that the internal consistency of their attacks on him no longer matters. For them, Bush is the double-bind president.
If he stumbles over his words, he is an embarrassing idiot. If he manages to cut taxes or wage a war against Saddam Hussein with bipartisan support, he is a manipulative genius.

The left doesn't so much hate Bush as they hate the fact that conservatism is making a comeback in this country. GW just happens to be in office at a point in history when the left and right are about equal.
The only way for Bush to please the leftist scum is to turn this country into a socialist hellhole.
No, they hate him personally. They really do. I was remembering the other day, that Bush's limo was pelted by angry crowds was winding through the streets of Washington. This was after the Inauguration ceremony. Gives me the shivers just remembering that.
At certain times, through the last few years, when Bush's popularity was sky-high e.g post 9/11, post-Afghanistan, I thought that he would be handily re-elected and it would be roses they would throw at his cavalcade and not tomatoes. Now it's turned back to the same blind post-2000 election hatred by the Democrats. If Bush does win on November 2nd (and he does deserve to), he WILL be accused of stealing the election again. That's why I pray he wins in a landslide and not in a close race again.
I disagree. Richard Nixon did his level best to turn this country into a socialist hellhole and they hated his guts.
The only socialists RATS love are RAT socialists. They're weird like that.
The liberal establishment truly hates PresBush. He is the focus of their attention. Being out of power since 1994, has turned the Librat political machine into a high gear effort of total desperation. Rich Lowery's article makes the point crystal clear. No matter what Bush says or does, he can't win with the political left of center. It was obvious early on that the Democrats weren't about to let the President change the tone in WashDC. The left is enamored with gutter politics. Conservatives beware.
Well I'd have to say the fact that the Left still needs Jimmy Peanut to mess up America even more is testament that Nixon wasn't socialist enough for their Commie blood.

I don't care if he sits in the Oval Office and scratches his butt and picks his nose from January 2005 - January 2008; as long as he wins and ticks off all the Hollywood libs and keeps Kerry out of the White House.
I hope that he wins by a wide margin as well, but it won't matter to them even if he does. He'll still be accused of a master plot with his governor brother and ex-CIA dad of manipulation and deceit. The voters were disenfranchised. The machines were rigged. It'll be something close or not.
Nah. For him to please the left he has to withdraw from the WoT, kowtow to UN and France, return to Clinton's "Trust but don't verify" for Iran and N. Korea, embrace abortion and gay "marriage", institute HillaryCare as opposed to the Medicare we have, disband INS and all border patrolling agencies and allow illegals to come in at whim, etc, etc.
