Bad headline. He's not troubled by the probe, but the allegations.
America needs to know what Sandy was trying to hide.
I am "profoundly troubled" that Berger has not been charged. Why not Mr. Ashcroft?
He's beginning to sound like Daschle. "I'm troubled." "I'm very disappointed." Etc.
Instead, Ashcroft is covering bare breasted statues and delaying prosecutions until the golf courses in the federal system are reseeded.
Hastert needs to show some enthusiasm for nailing Berger's hide to the barn door. Will we be treated to another demonstration of a Republican gutless approach to yet another dem outrage? Or will they at last get some testosterone flowing in those tired veins and go after them with a vengance? Hope for the latter, but plan for the former.
Let's spin this one a bit ~ if Speaker Hastert has no interest in having Berger dealt with properly, then it might well be fair for us to question his, Hastert's, patriotism and interest in protecting the American public from AlQaida and other terrorists.
My guess is a plea bargain....WHy would the lawyer admit he took them five times....Most lawyers admit nothing and advise their clients to plead the fifth....
By admitting what he has indded taken document illegally, it seems to say he has nothing to loose and an agreement has already been made...Expect Berger to lead the investigation to a bigger fish or fishes.
Yep! He doesn't want to suffer ARKANCIDE and end up sleeping with the fishes in the Potomac.
Hastert needs to show some enthusiasm for nailing Berger's hide to the barn door.
I agree. I'd say it all depends on whether Bush can get election mileage out of the scandal. If he can, he will prosecute. If he can't...it'll be PC all the way.
The best line came from Tom DeLay......he called it a third rate burglary!
Wonder if there is any connection with Hillary's October surprise?
America needs to know what Sandy was trying to hide.
And had such info been included in the Administration brief, could 3000 deaths have been averted?
A watchdog that whines instead of guarding is worthless. He ought to use some intelligence in attacking the foe. The Republicans need to stop acting like a bunch of servile (dare I say it? yes) girlie-men and get on with it. Otherwise we will have Gigilo John and his happy band forever.
Berger told by Clinton to grab docs incriminating Klink Admin for not dealing with terror.
Berger gets caught, but FBI flips the limp Berger, and he tells Slick that everything is OK, while FBI gets goods on Bill.
When Xlinton gets word the grand jury is about to hand down indictments, and Berger is cooperating with the FBI, he panics and leaks the info a few days before the Dem convention and yells the old VRWC fire!
OK, I can dream a bit, right?
Kind of reminds me of the Kennedy brothers and Marilyn Monroe (only not that good really).
I read that Clinton sent him over to do the reviewing. I would bet that Clinton forced him to do the reviewing - and clean out certain documents. What must the Clintons have on a man of Berger's stature to make him do such a risky, sneaky chore?
What is your source for him being sent by Clinton? Which one? Either would not surprise me....But I would be surprise if a lot of further information is leaked in the near future....
Expect most of the investigation has been completed. Bargains have been made and charges may be filed in the future, but not against Berger, because he is cooperating.
The investigation is not over. Be patient.
Ashcroft has done an absolutely heroic job going after all the corruption, excesses, terror issues, etc.
He would make a wonderful President.
