Indeed. And if all the unappeasables had voted for Isakson then, we might well not have had to put up with Senator Cleland for 6 years.

But let bygones be bygones. I think it's important for all R's to unite behind Isakson for Senate this time. Hopefully, Cain will run for Lt. Governor in '06. I'd certainly support him. In spite of all my defense of Isakson, I supported him this time.

Having the same positions as Zell Miller makes you an extremist?

I learned my lesson from the Louisiana gubernatorial race in 2003.

"extreme positions on social issues" by Cain and Collin?

- It's hard to see how being against killing unborn children in cases of rape and incest is an extreme position. I for one am extremely thankful that nearly 50% of Georgia voters WANTED candidates who don't discriminate against the unborn based on the circumstances of their conceptions. Hopefully Isakson will come around to that position and join other fine Senators, such as Rick Santorum and Sam Brownback, who work tirelessly to protect the unborn. Perhaps he will finally come out and disavow his LONG pro-choice record which he sought to conceal during the primary.

I can't support Isakson's record on second amendment issues and abortion issues. For 12 years I've been a strong proponent of the national consumption tax - the central piece of Cain's platform. The bill to do away with the IRS and impose a national sales tax was introduced in the House by Isakson's fellow Georgia Rep. John Linder. Yet Isakson was the last of Georgia's Republican Reps to sign on, and he did so only after Cain entered the U.S. Senate race and was already touting it. I've been to hear Isakson speak and there's nothing there. He supports Bush is the best thing he's got going. Why my fellow Georgians opted for this stagnant Country Club Republican over someone who wants to see the party and the nation continue to move on a conservative path is entirely beyond me, but I won't join them in November.
Isakson will win Georgia, there's not even a question about it. But he won't do it with my vote. I'll see how insane the libertarian is, and if he's too insane I'll leave that space on the ballot blank.

I was rooting for Cain, but I don't pretend to know much about any of the candidates, honestly. But if Isakson has an 84 ACU rating, that to me says he's a pretty decent conservative. But of course I respect your opinion. You definitely know more about this race than I do.

There are other good conservatives in Georgia and on this board who don't share my opinion. It is what it is. I'm told by Isakson's supporters that I'm an idealist and a zealot. I yam what I yam. But I do know that when the heated discussions came on the Georgia Board Isakson's supporters attacked Cain's lack of experience, touted Isakson's 30 years of experience in elective office but couldn't tell us what good he will do. That also means something to me - I'm tired of sending people to Washington D.C. who draw a paycheck consisting of tax dollars, build a political career and then do nothing worthwhile.

Is Glenn a Reagan-Republican or an Isakson Republican? Isakson is the type of fellow who thirty years ago would have been explaining that Governor Reagan was too extreme and that we needed to stick with Ford.

Correct me , if i am Wrong, but doesn't she have to have 51 percent to be a clear winner?

Look, I do not like your attitude.

Well crap. Georgians had the chance to make a difference tonight. They failed

The Voters spoke, that is the way it works. I voted for Cain, and my second choice would of been Matt Collins. But I have heard them all speak, including Isakson, and ALL OF THESE MEN ARE FINE PEOPLE. Republicans do not need any sorelosers, like in the Democrat party. You play the game by the rules, and you show good sportsmanship. Granted you are disappointed, that it did not turn out like you wanted, but you need to pull yourself together and carry on.

FIRST OF ALL..there will be another day for Cain, and he will win that election. So Chin up!

Clearly justified. You obviously didn't follow the race all that closely. I'll leave it at that.

That's right. Everyone did the best they could and it is time to move on to the next election cycle. It's time to ralley the party and build the Republican Mandate so they can govern more from their conservative base and not pander to the middle.

"Would not matter if their was a republican to run against McKinney district is 60% black."

Unless the Republican were black?

Blacks CAN be Republicans, you know - it's allowed.
